Macs aren't PCs. Apple had an ad a little while back with a PC and a Mac. A PC is a Windows Personal Computer. A Mac is a Mac and a Linux is a Linux. All three are good in their own unique ways. Windows has the largest library of software, and because of this it is one of the easiest, but most expensive to use. Linux is fast, safe and free. Mac looks nicer than Windows and is slightly more user friendly.
A personal computer (PC) is any general-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and original sales price make it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator. This is in contrast to the batch processing or time-sharing models which allowed large expensive mainframe systems to be used by many people, usually at the same time, or large data processing systems which required a full-time staff to operate efficiently. It is also in contrast with the more recent trend of controlling software availability through an intervening third party such as the Apple App Store.
You don't know what you're talking about. Macs are personal computers. End of story.

My opinion, a PC would be any computer that is built out of non proprietary hardware running on any non Apple operating system. So linux can be a PC as well. You can put any operating system on a pc.
You can put Linux on newer MACs because MAC OS is using linux kernal. So pretty much MACs are slowly becoming PCs. The problem with MAC though is that you still only buy proprietary hardware, which means Apple controls its own hardware/software market. That is a good and bad thing. Windows doesn't build motherboards, network cards, sound cards, and so forth. The good thing about PCs is that it creates more competition in the hardware market for companies like intel, AMD, Nvidia, ATI to build all the cool graphics cards and gaming rigs that might not exist today if MAC was controlling the hardware department.
Your opinion doesn't matter when you're arguing with facts. And OS X using the Linux kernel? I don't know where you heard that, but I can barely find anything about it. Most sources discredit as a myth, and I have to agree at this point.

Mac... because it can run both? In case you haven't noticed, there's a little thing called Bootcamp...
I don't think a Windows can run Mac stuff, though.
You'd be wrong.
There's nothing special about Macs. They're just overpriced computers.
I smell bias...
Well, I won't deny that I'm biased. It's hard to have an opinion without being biased; however, for any given piece of hardware in a Mac, I'd say with about 98% accuracy that you can get hardware that performs better and is cheaper.
Now, I'm not sure how old that image is. Judging from the MS Office '08, I assume it's only a few years old, but no matter its age, the point still stands. The hardware may have changed, but I'd be willing to bet that the price magnification is roughly the same. Macs are just like a normal computer. Only they cost more. Because Apple builds them.

Please don't attempt to drag me into this. I care less what someone thinks about the comp i own, a comp is a mere tool, nothing special. What is funny to be is how much whining you guys condone to try to say "my comp is better than yours"! Please continue on, i like it!

One day, there will be someone who looks at my signature and wonders "who gives a damn?"
I'll generally use Windows as I've got some software that I really don't like the Linux alternative to, or don't want to go through the effort to virtualize or run in wine. I'm also in IT and we deal with Windows at work, so I've got vast Windows knowledge. I'm partial to any OS at this point. I've got seven Windows PCs/servers in the house, two machines running Linux and one running Unix (Solaris). Yay!

Good job trying to act like you're above everyone. It makes you look really cool.
But I'll be the first to say my computer sucks. It's a shitty laptop from 2 years ago. If you didn't want to get "dragged into it" why even post in the topic in the first place? The idiocy of some people amazes me...
And no one is really whining. It's called debate. Argument. If anything, you're the one whining about the thread. Oh, that's right; you're probably just "trolling."
Nevermind the fact that I am Swedish and have no special education in English, I still find it funny how you have to point out a spelling error to make yourself seem big or whatever you crazy Americans do when you feel that your penises are inadequate :wink.gif:
You don't know what you're talking about. Macs are personal computers. End of story.
Nuh uh!!!!! /argue :3
Only reason why I have macs instead of windows is I love the design, my macbook air is the lightest thing I have ever had, the unibody is sweet, and my mac mini makes my desk look all clean, I like the OS compared to windows, my favorite textedit application is only on mac for when I code as well.
I don't really mind the extra price, I've never had a problem with my macs (derp it just works herp) and for my absolute needs for windows I just boot camp it.
EDIT:
But I will say one thing about the unibody; who ever thought of aluminum for a computer, especially used for business, should be hung. Last winter, I have a wool jacket that I used to wear all the time for work, well I took it off one day and got a lot of static electricity, touched my mac and shocked myself, killed the logic board. BUT thankfully I had the applecare and they just sent me a new one :3
I have been thinking about getting a book reader like kindle, but the ipads look kinda cool. I might just wait till a few challengers appear. The Samsung Galaxy tab is way to expensive.
Windows, mainly because it's the one type of operating system that is compatible with (almost) everything I give it, and is really the universal operating system for computers. And I've used it for like, the last four years. :tongue.gif:
I will say that Macintosh is working it's way up to the same point of doing anything Windows can. And it is working it's way up pretty good, but until then, nah.
Now, Linux, good if you're practically a computer engineer, but at the same time, needs even more work to get stuff running on it than Macintosh. Only real advantage is having complete control over what it does, but...meh.
Now, Linux needs even more work to get stuff running on it than Macintosh.
Have you ever actually used Linux?
Any competent modern distribution has a dead-simple package manager. Almost any application you want can be installed in a few clicks or a single command. You don't need to go search the internet for a download, as with Windows or OS X.
I didn't even know of e-books, doesn't surprise me though. What's bothering me is the fact that apparently people need a special machine, TO READ MOTHER****ING BOOKS! Thank god I stayed away from everything that starts with "I" (like Ipod, Iphone, ITombStone, ILife), except for incest.
Did you know, they had a survey to see which were the most influential inventions of all time? The Iphone was number eight, right above combustion engines, flushing toilets, and freezers, and almost tied with Penicillin. It was really high above hot water and the compass.

Well, to be fair, hot water really isn't an invention.
And to be fair, the iPhone isn't that cool. I'd prefer not to have an locked-down piece of ****.
I've used Windows for gaming since Dos.
Last time I used windows was with XP.
Went to college, deleted all games to avoid distraction. PC breaks down (motherboard died somehow).
Bought the Asus EEE (linux dist) in Dec 07, served me extremely well over the 3 years.
I'm waiting for my 2.66ghz 2010 macmini; should arrive in the next few days.
I'm sick of linux because you practically have to be a novice linux programmer in order to get crap installed;at least thats the experience with Xandros on EEE, which defeats the entire purpose of the EE (supposed to be almost computer-illiterate-friendly). Forget about the fact that Wine doesnt work very well (or at all) on this Xandros dist, so besides that, the incompatibility with everything leaves you with nothing more than a laptop for internet and word processing.
In my experiences at Uni, Windows running via bootcamp ran better than any Windows based computer I've ever owned.
I was anti-Mac in everything because I hate (and still do) the fact that the majority of people that go for Apple products are only there for the fashion.
Through mucking around on the Uni Mac's and on my friends mac book, I enjoyed it more than Windows.
Theres no doubt that I will lose out on gaming by going with Mac but I'm fine with leaving all gaming to PS3.
Macmini cant handle most recent games in anyway but thats fine by me; it does what I need.
This whole mac vs windows (forget linux) argument is really stupid if you think about it.
You might as well fight over which colour of the rainbow is the best.
Personal preference.

Making the mistake of digging straight down; 3 hearts,
Falling into lava pool (lucky you have a bucket of water); 4 hearts,
Telling a hissing creeper "No!" - priceless.
Windows. No contest.
Macs used to have the edge when it came to graphics, but they lost that. Honestly, I think of Macs of being nothing more than a over priced paper weight.
Linux, I've heard good things I've heard bad things. But I still like Windows better.
