I've noticed a lot of people on this forum have been using c# or python instead of java.
I understand why you might want to use python (I think it's a fine language myself :] )
However, I don't quite understand using c# over Java...
Is there something I'm missing? I've made several programs in c# and I just find Java to be a better choice. I think what Java does for me is the amazing amount of documentation of Java's classes, and instant cross-platform.
What do like about c#/python/java?
C# is commonly known as Microsoft's answer to Java. But I, personally, think that C# is too "weak" to be compared to Java. I mean, haven't you heard - C# is the new kiddie language on the block.
Weak? What do you mean weak? Do you have any idea of the size and scope of the libraries that back it up?

C# is made by m*cr*s*ft, and everything they make gets used for some time, even if its really sh*tty.
Ehhh you sure seems to be quick to judge. Kind of following the herd without question, aren't you?

i'm a college student as programmer-analyst, and i must learn CS (ps: not to be confused with Counter-Strike). Before i was a student, i went for 3-4 years learning programmation on my own, going with C++. I barely touched Java, so i can't really give my opinion on this very subject. What i can say is that CS is undoubtly not terrible. In fact, i practically abandonned C++ ever since i started with CS. It's so much less an headache, and so much more easy to use.

C++ vs Java is better suited, imo.
Yeah I've heard c# described that way. It's kind of interesting because they are similar languages, which are run with some sort of 'virtual machine' type system (Or maybe better described as compiled into an intermediate language?), and with some subtle differences.
C++ vs Java is always an interesting debate (read: flame war) since they serve such different purposes, and each side has some stubborn extremists. XD
