Seriously, if you took all the computing power in the world and dedicated it to cracking a single 512-bit SHA1 hash, it would take longer than the current age of the universe to crack.
If "I" took all the computing power in the world, yes - It would take a long time.
But I know plenty of people who would have no trouble cracking your puny password, you underestimate nerds, my friend.
Except SHA-512 hasn't been cracked. The original SHA1 hasn't even been cracked yet (no collisions have yet been found), and SHA-512 is 2 orders of magnitude stronger. Don't try to talk about things you have no idea about, it makes you look like a fool.
As an exercise for your friends, have them figure out what day and time of day I input as a string to create this SHA-256 hash:
If you want an introduction to programming, the best way to do it is to read tutorials on programming,
I might have taken this seriously if online tutorials were any good for beginners. Sure they cover the introductions well enough, allowing somebody to understand the different data types and basic loops, but beyond that they are kinda crappy. They either work in some very specific way that is actually terrible code design, don't teach much beyond very specific programs like a simple calculator, utterly incomprehensible to a beginner or require a ton of libraries and other programs that are tricky to install. The best I could find was some Python Pygame tutorials, but even those violate some of these problems.
I support any system that teaches how to design good data control systems and good program design.
No, it says something about your particular experience with a program in a particular setting and it doesn't do that very well besides declaring that you hated it by fiat. It doesn't tell anyone why you hated it or what was wrong with it. It doesn't tell anyone anything, really. All it does is necro a topic to add nothing of value.
Par for the course, really.
