I own a Mac. An old one. PowerMac2.1 according to the screen. The CPU is PowerPC 750, with a single CPU at a speed of 400 MHz. 512 MB of memory. Currently OS X ver. 10.4.11, the Tiger version.
Recently got the newest Java update.
All of these are things I believe to be needed for a faster running game.
Is there any way at all I'd be able to play Minecraft at good average speed without buying a new computer?
I doubt it, but I'm hopeful.
Oh well, I'll stash away cash from summer jobs, buy a nice gaming laptop.
I should've thought it wouldnt work on my computer. I mean, I think the minimum to play games like this is 1600MHz, which is godly compared to my 400MHz...
I have a 13" MacBook with 2 Ghz dual core intel pentium processor and a (shitty) awesome Intel GMA X3100 or whatever. Safari doesn't even run the game properly, but Firefox does. And I get a very fluid 6 fps. Avarage. Not if the view distance is as close as my nostrils, but its not cool as that.
On the other hand, my brothers pc has a, uh.. 3.2 Ghz AMD something (I guess) and an ATI Radeon X1650 with 256 Megs. Highest view is awesome, mostly.. getting an avarage of 24 fps outside, 140-300something underground/water. I'm guessing the game will be optimized sometime, but do you really think that this is what the game really needs?
Anyways, this is NOT a rant or anything. I'm very grateful for this game and going to buy it as soon as I have disposable money (which will happen when I find a job :tongue.gif:)
On a side note, which card is better? An ATI X1650 with 256 Megs or an ATI X800 with 512 Megs?
err.. I actually forgot what I wanted to write here. Anyways, hope this helps to scale what you need.

Thanks.
Yes, 1.6GHz is MINIMUM for playing games.
2GHz is recommended.
I'm hoping to improve my 2GHz to a 3Ghz+ and my 756MB GFX card for a 1700MB+ I can't remember the exact mem capacity...
