I am a high school teacher who is organizing a Minecraft Club at my school. I want to create a server that can host up to 100 students at any given time. Before that, I want my students to build a computer that will solely function as the server. I came here to the forum to see if I can get some advice about what motherboard, cpu, ram, and power supply I should use if I want to host that many players. I'm new to computer hardware, but I am very eager to learn the specs of all the different computer components.
I have already thought of using about 16 GB of RAM and using a used i5 or i6 core processor. However, I have no idea about what type of motherboard pr power supply would be ideal for these initial specs. Please provide some insight and recommendations! (I'm looking to make this build budget friendly since my school will not pay for any new hardware. I will have to fundraise with my students for the equipment.)
Hello, 100 players is possible, although you will need more ram memory and depending on the server version 1.18 and 1.19, they usually consume a lot of resources. I can offer you a server optimization service if you are interested in getting those 100 players stable
