The wacom, the video card, the cpu, the os, heck even the motherboard is overpriced
i can´t really see what he payed too much for this stuff. Aren´t these the normal pices? or is it like a country thing, i mean that you pay in germany more than in the country where you come from?
$1000 for the CPU is overpriced, which is how much it costs here in Brazil.
Yet that's not overpriced even by foreigners' standards. It might be slightly above regular pricing (which is still CHEAP), but definitively not overpriced. What is the price that you deem acceptable, just for the record?
So.. I still haven't done anything much since July (lazy me).. I have some of the remaining header cables, peripheral cables, SATA power (have 18AWG wire, connecters, sleeving etc to make up my own custom cables) & data cables as well as fan cables/connectors to go & my system is still sitting on my desk with the sides off & cables everywhere, unchanged from how it was in July.
Thanks to Christmas, I was able to aquire a new headset and keyboard! Updated specs below.
• i3 4150 @3.5GHz
• ASRock H97M Anniversary
• Kingston Fury HyperX Black 8GB @1866MHz
• WD Blue 160GB 7200RPM
• WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM
• WD Caviar Black 500GB 7200RPM external drive
• Gigabyte Geforce GTX 960 G1 Gaming 2GB
• Lian Li PC-50
• EVGA 500W w1
• Linux Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
• Acer P221w 1680x1050 @60Hz
• Kingston Fury HyperX Clouds (Red/Black)
• Razer Deathadder 3.5G 3500DPI
• CM Storm Quickfire Rapid w/ Cherry MX Blues
Honestly, I'm very happy with the new keyboard and headset haha. After using my first mechanical keyboard, I honestly can't see myself going back to rubber dome. The Clouds are pretty nice as well, and they're probably the most comfortable headset I've ever used. The sound quality of the Clouds is amazing compared to my old Apple EarPods. Not to mention, the build quality is outstanding.
Just built a new system today. This is going to replace my Windows XP PC, though I will still keep it around if I ever need to use it for anything.
MB: Asus Z97 Pro Gamer LGA1150
CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K Devil's Canyon Quad Core
RAM: Crucial Ballsitix Sport DDR3 1600 2x8GB
PSU: Corsair AX860 Modular Power Supply
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX960 4G-P4-3967-KR 4GB GDDR5 SSC
HDD1: Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD (Boot)
HDD2: WD Blue 3TB 5400RPM (Storage)
Optical Drive: Asus 12X Blu-Ray Burner BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS
Case: Corsair Graphite 600T White Mid Tower
PVR Card: Hauppage Colossus 2 1080P HD-PVR
The PVR card is not yet installed. I am still in the process of installing software on the system. Eventually Steam is going to be installed on it. Several of the games I play on Steam are SteamPlay enabled, which means I can install them on the new PC. Terraria and Starbound are both like this.
The MB has gotten a number of 1 star reviews on Newegg (around 25%), but I am taking these with a grain of salt as I think most of the issues leading to those bad reviews are caused by improper handling during installation or improper cooling. Around 11 years ago when I did my first PC build I got an anti static kit, which includes a mat, grounding cable and wrist strap. I use these with every build or component install.
I have spent around $1800 for this build, including a copy of Windows 7 Pro OEM which I bought several weeks ago. To buy a system with similar specs would likely cost me more.
Once I can shut off the system I will get some pictures of the inside. The Corsair 600T case has has holes for running cables through. With the exception of one power cable between the AX860 and the graphics card, everything else is routed through the holes to the back (right) side of the case. This makes for a lot cleaner build without having cables cluttering the inside.
Images below.
Left side of the case:
Right side. The cutout in the back allows for mounting third party coolers to the processor.
Front side of the case:
Top of the case. Pardon the pinkish/purple. That appears to be from my camera's flash.
Edit: the Colossus 2 PVR card has been installed. It is in the PCIE x1 slot, which is 2 slots below where the graphics card is. I have also added another hard drive. This is a 2TB drive I cannibalized from a Verbatim USB 3.0 external drive. It was timing out on me, even shutting itself off when in the external enclosure. So I popped it open and put in inside the system as a 3rd internal drive. It is right behind the front 200mm fan, at the top of the 3.5" drive cage, but still in its airflow.
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO SSD (250GB), 1TB Western Digital Black, 1TB Western Digital Blue
PSU: EVGA 750W 80Plus Bronze
Case: Antec 902 Case
Redid my OC today on my CPU, all temps are super nice (75c when gaming, 50c browsing, 40c idle). Graphics card and Memory are quite new too, had this badboy for 5 years now and it's going strong!
How did you manage a 395MHz overclock? That's legitimately impressive.
Actually, I was crazily surprised myself. I pulled off the heatsink, added new thermal, reflashed BIOS to get higher power limit, 87mv boost on Voltage to almost hit like 1.3v lol, and 1522 is stable :P. Although I usually run it at 1499 so I can do 1.243v. The 960's are beasts my friend!
Intel Celeron 1007U 1.5 GHz Dual Core
Intel HD Graphics 2500 2GB
4 GB RAM
I'm poor, okay. Plus this is an all-in-one computer so I can't upgrade it.
i have one even older than that
CPU: 1GHz intel atom(according to the sticker)
RAM: 1GB DRR2
no grafik(uses the gpu of the cpu, at least i think)
You're... you're a warrior.
Kudos.
The wacom, the video card, the cpu, the os, heck even the motherboard is overpriced
