I installed the Shaders version 2.4.11 for minecraft 1.8. This was all using forge
When I load up a save, I would be stuck on the dirt background you encounter as the loading screen. I know the world is loaded as I hear water flowing nearby and I can press Escape to bring up the menu and release my mouse. But my game never leaves the loading screen. When I minimize the game and reopen it, the background turns to a light blue. I have used shaders before without a problem on my computer.
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5450
PS At one point, all the numbers on the main menu were changed to little lava and water textures. It may have been a result of another mod, but it cleared up after I used a resource pack and temporarily uninstalled shaders.

Turns out it was due to my use of it with optifine
You should only use D1 with shaders as other versions are not compatible with shaders.
