I have searched but haven't found anything, and honestly not sure how to put this question into an effective search. I'm pretty new to Minecraft, and have just recently started playing around with mods. One of the mods I am using is Mekanism, which among other things, introduces new ores into the game, like Osmium. While playing in a world that I had started before installing the mod, I have not been able to find this ore anywhere, but after starting a brand new world, it seems pretty common.
I'm assuming that the mod had to have been installed at the time the world was generated in order for it to add spawned items, such as ores that are not part of the vanilla game. Is that correct, and if so, is there any way around the issue?
I'm wondering since I will no doubt find other mods I want to try in the future. Will I need to create a new world every time in order to get the most out of them? With Mekanism, without the Osmium, there's really no way to make anything else. I'm guessing that's going to be pretty common with other mods.
