Hi. I'm someone who wants to create their own mods to spice up their modpacks. But I don't know what programs are the best and easiest ones to use. Can someone suggest ideas in replies? I know Blender is good for making models but I'm not sure what other programs to use.
Well, the people on this forum use Java programming tools, usually along with Forge (which puts together a mod loading framework along with a lot of "hooks" to make modifying the vanilla behavior easier). Basically you need to down load a Java development environment (Eclipse is well supported), make sure you have the right Java JDK and JRE on your system, download the latest Forge MDK package and run some gradle scripts to setup the project workspace, then import into your Java development environment and start coding your mod.
There are of course also some things like MCCreator which allow you to make a lot of the typical changes people like to do in their mods. But if you want to do something special like a custom entity with advanced AI behavior then I'd suggest modding directly with Java.

If you realy want to make a mod without programming use MCreator (but I recommend learning Java).
