In Minecraft Currently, most of the ore blocks require a pickaxe with the silk touch enchantment to obtain. I think being able to get them without having to do lots of enchanting or trading with villagers would be nice, for things like builds and traps. To get these ores (lapus, redstone, diamond, emerald, coal, and quartz), you could craft them using some of the material from the ore and some stone or netherack. To craft one quartz ore, you would craft 4 netherack and 4 quartz in shapeless crafting. For coal, 3 coal 2 stone, and 1 cobble stone to craft 1 coal ore. Lapus would be 4 lapus, 1 cobblestone, and 2 stone for 1 ore. Diamond ore could be crafted with 2 diamonds, 1 cobblestone, and 2 stone for 1 ore. You would ceaft emerald ore with 2 emeralds, 1 cobblestone, and 2 stone. Redstone would require 5 redstone dust, 1 cobblestone, and 2 stone.
All these would craft one ore.

If at first you don't succeed, blame your parents.
Surely it would just be easier to use silk touch? You'd need to mine more resources to use the system you're proposing. It doesn't involve lots of enchanting or trading, just one enchantment.

Yeah, I am kinda with ConArt70 on this one. Silk touch isn't much trouble to get really.

You always have iron ore and gold ore which need to be smelted, but silk touch for me seems as a waste of exp. Unless I need to get that glass...
