Custom skins would be a great addition to Minecraft on the xbox, and honestly it should be more of a right than a privilege like it is being treated. Yes, skins for Minecraft on xbox are currently behind a paywall, and we are forced to choose to pay for, in my opinion, pretty crappy skins for the majority. Microsoft needs to allow custom skins on xbox, and stop milking something that is such a big deal for most people for as much money as they can get. They need to allow downloading and applying skins to xbox, maybe by adding an option to change your xbox skin on the Minecraft website. Or maybe they could make their own official Minecraft skin page. People can express their creativity through their own skin, and when you have to choose from a certain amount of skins, people often see the same skins over and over which takes away the fun of seeing people with cool skins. Lets just hope they come to their senses on this, a lot of my friends have stopped playing Minecraft all together because of how much money they want from you! Could you let me know what you think?
The reason I have stopped playing Minecraft on Xbox as often is because of this issue. The individual skins I use from skin packs simply aren't enough to express me. The thing about Minecraft is to personalize your experience, isn't it? Then why aren't they letting us do just that?
Custom skins should definitely be a thing, I agree. Why does Mobile/Windows 10 editions have an [Upload Skin] button but not Xbox?
Since one of the new Xbox One updates allow the uploading and downloading of files, there should be an [Upload Skin] button on the Skins page like there is on Android/iOS and Windows 10.
I've already got a skin ready so if this does happen, I will be waiting.
Personally I couldn't care less. I think there are plenty of free skins. If people want to waste money on skins, it helps fund the devs to produce free content that actually makes a difference to the game I guess. Most games have in-game purchases for pointless stuff so minecraft is no different.
In my opinion, skins do not really change much about the game. Like how ConArt70 said above, there are plenty of free skins. Also skins don't change much of anything at the moment. Having custom skins would not change anything about this. They don't really change gameplay at all either. If you want custom skins that badly though, I recommend you play on Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition instead. Also copyright is an issue as well. That is why on Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition, you cannot use skins from the Super Mario Mashup Pack in crossplay worlds. Why is this? Copyright. Copyright makes the characters "platform restricted". That way, you don't have someone playing as Mario or Luigi on an Xbox World. Having custom skins would destroy copyright laws, because of hundreds of people wanting to play as Sonic or something like that on console. Sorry, but we are not having custom skins on console anytime soon. Never, actually.
