What is Desolation?

Armageddon has hit the city of Coveton. Portals to a dark dimension ripped open throughout the city, spilling blood-thirsty monsters into the streets. For thirty days, lawlessness ruled. The gutters ran red with blood. Humanity failed.

Now, you are one of the few survivors. Your goal is to scavenge your way out of this forsaken city. Players will loot the thousands of chests littered throughout Coveton for food, clothing, and weapons. The first player to find 5 key cards and take them to the airport will unlock the hangar doors to the only working aircraft in the city. The game will be played on Hard Survival, so players will have to worry about starving to death, getting gored by monsters, and the other players who will no doubt be foaming at the mouth to get a kill and increase their survival supplies. Watch your back and keep your eyes on the prize or find yourself forever locked in the grips of … Desolation.

Gameplay is one part Day-Z, another part Hunger Games, and a sprinkle of Adventure Map. Started in January of 2014, Desolation is a group project on the XBOX One. It’s a work in progress that will eventually cover the entirety of an XBOX 360 original map in dense urban landscape. Every building has an interior that players can loot, scavenge, and explore as they battle each other in order to leave the city.

Follow along as we move Desolation toward completion.

I want to spread the word as much as possible. This project is really starting to gain traction and I want to speed up production. That means I need two things from this community. I need PVPers and I need builders.

If you want to participate in the PVP you must have a mic and be able to follow directions. You can send me a FR at Beancrew49 on XBOX Live. Many of these matches will be recorded and posted on Youtube. Check my channel for examples. Search out the videos with PVP in the title.

If you want to participate in building, you need to be a special kind of person. We're going for modern, realistic, with a high level of detail on both the interiors and exteriors. This is a group project and we enjoy helping each other, so drive, patience, and perseverance are more important to me than building skill. We can teach you building skill. The benefits are that you will become a better builder, your work will be on display to a large audience, and you will get to be a part of the Desolation map and join in on all the fun we're having.

Guys, I'm really excited today. I've had my first taste of actual Desolation game play and it was so scary! It's taken over a year, but we're starting to put things in chests and we can now show how Desolation will perform when it's finished. Let me know what you think.

PVP anyone?

After getting attention from Dan Laggs, BigB, Stampy, and 4J themselves, we've decided to fast-track the Desolation Demo so they can come and play with us!. It's exciting times on the Desolation map. Tune in to be a part of the action!

The Desolation Demo is officially ready! Today we put on some finishing touches, as seen here:



And now, after 13 months of hard work, we finally have a playable version of Desolation. If you're a fan of PVP then you're going to love tomorrow's video as well. It's the first footage of true Desolation gameplay.



Now that the demo is here, I want EVERYONE to come over and play. I need to take a break from building for a while and get to surviving in a post-apocalyptic suburb overrun with deadly monsters so I'm opening my map to some PVP action.
