I wish ya could pick and choose which command blocks you receive output from in chat so you didn't have to turn off command block output altogether to keep them from being too spammy. Like, I don't need to know every time a creeper gets exterminated or an entity gets summoned but I might want to know if a player enters a certain region.

You could do it so those commands only activate when an event you want to happen be announced. It's an extra command but it's not too bad to account for.
