I am building an adventure map right now, but I don't know how to control command blocks and other technical staff to improve the quality of the map. I build every checkpoint with a command block that sets a spawnpoint. So it's possible to reach it by using /kill. But instead of killing oneself all the time, I would prefer to have an item in the taskbar which teleports oneself to their spawnpoint.
If anyone could help me out, I appreciate it so much. Thanks in advance.
I know there's no longer the command testfor but something like "execute if entity ...", how can I do the same thing with those commands?
Is it possible to use an enderpearl instead of an arrow? So whenever I throw it I get back.
And I actually do not try to die, I would prefer if you skip the death screen.
Create a book. Write the teleport command in it. Sign in. Leave it at the checkpoint. When player reaches a new checkpoint, give them another book with the new command plus the old one so they can choose which checkpoint to go to. Keep doing this for every checkpoint they reach. Tell me if it works.

I am actually using version 1.13.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work or at least I don't know how to do it. Seems less convenient than I would like it to anyway. But thx for the idea!
