I don't believe in "better" as it's totally subjective and depends on the individual, but with that said, I personally overall prefer MC.
To note, I love both games and find they have their own pros and cons, their own charms, and they should not/cannot be compared. They are considerably different games.
The reason I state preference with MC in this case is because it just feels like it has more personalisation options and freedom of gameplay styles. With Terraria, it has more of a locked-in means of progression to actually access much of anything (like having to battle certain bosses to access new areas), as well as a rather limited world. MC is less strict about accessibility and can have a vastly expansive world size of variation.
Terraria has a nice amount of customisable options, offering many variations for one basic feature, and also an appealing visual style and interesting enemies/NPCs/critters/etc (overall even considering the number of varying creatures). It has a fun range of weaponry, diverse selection of accessories for different types of buffs, and many ores to mine.
The soundtrack in both games are great. The art style in both games are great. The games are great in their own ways.
Which game do you think was the better one, which one was more fun?

I like them both but I don't like the "pressure" that Terraria gives me about the Corruption or the Crimson spreading.
