I know everyone is going to think I'm stupid but I've tested this so many times to make sure...
As the Title says, unless I feed my villagers they starve/ despawn.
I am playing on 1.17 ps4 bedrock realms.
It took me yonks to get a mending villager, so when I did, I took great care to keep him in a fully lit underground prison cell... when he despawned the first time, I didnt understand what had happened, but sure enough, a day later, the cleric next to him had disappeared too. They had no doors and no way to leave their cells.
My next mending villager I built a little house for... well more of an outside cell... protected from all sides, no door, no way out. I had another cleric next to him again, same set up as before. Both despawned again.
I made a villager crop farm, the villager who does not work the farm, the one without food, despawned.
I made a trading station, the villagers started despawning.
The only way I have managed to keep the 16 villagers in my trading station alive is by wiring droppers full of bread to daylight sensors as an automated daily feeder.
I forgot to fill up one of the droppers and low and behold, the only villager out of 16 without food despawned.
Now they're all full of bread and none have despawned in a while.
I've looked far and wide online, everyone says villagers only need to eat to breed. All the farms are designed with a hungry villager in the design. So can anybody explain what on block earth is going on...?
This is hilarious to read but I have no clue. Maybe try putting them in boats or make a mini village prison? (Build each one a house with a bed and put fences around all the houses)
