I was playing on a Minecraft server with a couple of friends and all of a sudden a house in the village near us starts to burn to the ground in front of our eyes. We put out all the fire but then the house next to it starts to burn too. We put out all of the fire in the house and then magically it sets on fire again. I dug all around and couldn't find the source of the flames, no lava, other fire... anywhere... Soon enough, houses that are all the way across the village start going up in flames. It couldn't have been a prankster on the server setting the fires because there were only 3 of us online at the time and all of us were in our house freaking out. It couldn't have been lightning because it had only rained about once since we built our house near the village. I can only see this as a glitch.. It didn't go away when we all relogged or unloaded the chunks mainly because it was on a server. We're trying to see if leaving the server empty overnight to see if the fire will stop. We're playing on a Vanilla server on the most recent Bedrock version. Does anybody know the cause of this?
That's what I would say if I were one of your troll friends.
It would be better if Bing and any other player could disable permission for all other players on the server to start fires using lava buckets or flint and steels specifically, instead of setting up a dofiretickfalse gamerule which is a cheat.
This would've been one legitimate way to verify what caused the fire. If players cannot start it, then it had to be something in the game itself.
Sadly the game sucks at this, due to not having a lot of ways to prevent griefing without commands or cheats. And you cannot make the permissions specific enough. DoFireTickFalse does affect other players yes, but it can also affect you, so you're not going to be making fires that spread.

Yes. Your friends trolling you.
They... aren't. None of us have made anything that can light a fire whether it be flint and steel or lava buckets.
You can prevent this by using
/gamerule doFireTick false
