Hi newbie here. Been playing for a little bit (win 10) and started a realm for my grandsons and I to play. In survival mode individual (non realm) we found villages to interact with. When I started the realm we were looking all over for villagers to trade with. All we ever found were the wandering trader and his llamas. Are there villages in survival realms game? I used the default settings made no changes whatsoever to the game in starting the realm. We have played successfully for a few weeks.
We found some Lost 2 of them really fast. Mobs came and slaughtered them before we could secure the village. Got one walled village saved so far but it is touch and go. Iron golums don't seem to live long.

That's too bad! Until you have the village completely secured (lots of torches everywhere and a simple fence will do) it is really important to sleep during the night or at least lock the villagers in their houses. A simple column of dirt outside the house blocking each door will keep them in and the zombies out. Iron golums are very susceptible to being killed by skeletons, but they will respawn as long as the villagers are still alive. You can also heal them with iron if they get cracked.
Thanks for the info. I had no idea that golems could be healed. How do you go about that? I never thought about locking villagers inside. Can you still trade with them that way? Also how are you going to get new villagers if they cannot meet up?
The fence idea is kind of nice but the zombies, creepers and skeletons are spawning INSIDE the walls that I built. I use dirt at first then stone for a three block high wall surrounding the village. At least those villages that are not built around canyons and with houses built on inverted pyramid like stone structures. I have tried making multiple veggie plots in open areas but the monsters still spawn inside the village. I have torches all along the wall and in places inside the village where I see any darker spots at night. I have seen some monsters like skeletons and creepers seemingly spawn on top of the wall. I usually build a high tower where I can over see the village and take out monsters with a bow. When I just sleep through the night I find zombies parked in front of villagers doors and they kill the villager when they open the door in the morning. It's getting real darn frustrating.

I apologize about the information regarding healing the golems by "using" a piece of iron on them. I just looked it up and it is a feature exclusive to the Java edition, so it won't work in the Bedrock edition, at least not yet. Sorry about that!
If you place a dirt column in front of a villager's door to keep them from leaving the house, you can remove the top block and open the door to trade with them. The villager has to come right up to the door though, and sometimes they are stubborn and keep their distance. The same goes for leaving a hole in the wall, like a window with no glass. You can trade as long as the villager comes right up to the window. I am talking about "normal" houses that spawn naturally in villages, and the idea was to keep the villagers locked in only temporarily until the village is secured. Once it is safe for the villagers to go outside they can roam about, make friends and reproduce. I have started to place all the villager workstations in a crafting area at the town center. That makes the villagers have a more active social life. The reason I said to block the door with a column of two blocks is because a baby zombie might be able to get in the house if there is only one block in front of the door. You may find you prefer to make an artificial trading hall where you put each villager in a tiny booth with a bed and workstation, but I like my villages more natural.
Regarding mobs spawning in villages, I assume the Bedrock edition works like the Java edition. It sounds like you are greatly underestimating the number of torches, lanterns, etc. that you need to keep mobs from spawning. Place many more torches everywhere, in the houses, on the outside walls of the houses, on walls and don't forget rooftops, because mobs can spawn on top of houses and drop down into the village. Be sure to roam the village at night to spot any shadowy spaces. If you finally manage to spend a few nights patrolling your village and don't see any mobs, then your village is secure.
It sounds like you have made your wall out of ordinary blocks that mobs can spawn on. There are certain blocks like half slabs or stairs that mobs don't spawn on, so if you really want a high wall, you either need many more torches on the wall or you can put a block at the top that mobs can't spawn on. I always just erect a humble wooden fence or the one-block-high craftable stone wall because they are just as effective at keeping mobs out and mobs cannot spawn on them. The only disadvantage is that mobs can see over the fence, so skeletons can shoot over the fence, and a Creeper can explode if it sees you. Placing torches outside the fence reduces the number of mobs that spawn nearby though. Pieces of carpet placed on a fence or a wall at intervals let you jump onto the carpet and over the fence/wall for easy access/exit but mobs can't jump on the carpet.
It must be awful to find zombies in your village in the morning. If you go to bed when the sun starts to go down no mobs should spawn at all, at least in the Java edition. Is the Bedrock edition different in this respect? Maybe you are staying up too long and going to sleep after the zombies have already spawned.
I wish you luck and hope you return to let us know if you have been successful!

Yes if you didn‘t explicitly turn off village generation when you created the world, there should be villages.
