Where is it? Where are the developer updates for progress on it? Why don't they release the bad unfinished version for free at least so we can at least look at our worlds and/or take pictures with the shaders?
Yep, I pretty much stopped playing when I realised this was never going to happen. I got pretty hyped for it. We were sold bedrock better together almost on the strength of the shader pack. We were fed footage of it on console and then nothing. I can live with bugs in games which are constantly being developed. Heck, I play DayZ! The people that whine about bugs in minecraft...go play DayZ and see how well off you are. But to be sold a game on the back of an imminent dlc which then never happens made me a little bit salty. Now every time I fire the game up, I just feel pretty disappointed and turn it off after a couple of minutes.
When it was originally in development last year, we discovered that the graphics engine currently in the game simply could not support it. So we discovered we had to actually make a completely new graphics engine. Coding a new, custom engine for a game (especially one that has to support 11 different platforms, including VR/AR/MR) is not a trivial undertaking. Our graphics team is, and has been, hard at work every single day doing this. If you would like a quality product that’s not rushed and full of bugs, I ask you to please respect the time they need & just bear with us.
Maybe they should have realised this before marketing it for release soon after the better together update. Marketing a product that simply doesn't work and then releasing statements long after it was clear it couldn't be done doesn't take the salt away.
More and more I believe that maybe better together was actually a bad idea Everything being dumbed down to cater for kids with phones has made this game a slightly better version of Roblox.
Gotta love false advertising. You see it a lot in the gaming industry. If this ever comes out, I will actually hop back on Minecraft. I've been off it for at least 6 months. There are not even good texture packs after all this time!

Makes sense to me: I will not play this game intentionally designed with simple graphics unless they add fancy graphics to it. No, no, don't bother me with the fact that they keep adding lots of interesting things to the game that make it fun to play, I want pretty graphics on this game where almost everything is made of cubes.

No, they've added loads of crap on the marketplace that appeals to twelve year old girls. All we're asking for is the shader pack that was promised too long ago to remember

The person I quoted said they had stopped playing Minecraft and would only resume playing it when the super dooper graphics are released. My point being the graphics of this game aren't exactly the point and I don't see why someone would stop playing it because of something that hasn't been added to the game when so much actual content has been added to this game (aquatic update, the new village and pillage stuff, etc etc). There's more to do, build, see than ever.

If you barely played it before, sure, but any player that has actually put real time into the game can't really get that much more time out of the new updates we've had. There's only so many times you can squeeze more out of a game that only sees significant updates once yearly, and said updates can be explored in their entirety in 30 minutes or less.

So pretty graphics will somehow add new life to the game when tons of new content, according to you, won't?
For the record, I'm playing a map that started on xbox 360 and that I continue to play daily. Hundreds of hours and I'm really enjoying all of the new stuff. No idea what you're talking about.

For me, the point is, and I think I've already stated this, it's that they promised this shader pack, advertised and showcased it alongside better together and then didn't follow through. I'd pretty much finished with minecraft before better together but the idea of infinite worlds renewed my interest. I also play on an old world though I have had to start new ones to get the new biomes, etc. The shaders for me, add a new level of immersion that I felt had been lacking in the game since I started playing out A loooong time ago. Some of the stuff they keep adding...fine. Aquatic update was decent. OK, pandas were a bit pointless but I can accept that kids like all that crap so yeah, stick it in. I can even tolerate all the crap on marketplace I don't have to look at it or buy it. But yeah, I get it. Kids like that crap and cry until their parents buy it for them. But I stuck with the game with an expectation of shaders This is a big deal, probably, if you're a builder and not just wandering about collecting new flowers and pandas. I stuck with it because of the promise of super duper graphics. Until they give us the shaders they promised us, I'm finished with minecraft and so is every other (mature) player that I know.
The tons of content you wax lyrical about I would swap happily for shaders.I'm not interested in pandas, skin packs, adventure maps or fifty thousand varieties of tropical fish.
Yes pretty graphics will add to my game and no, 90% of the new stuff they added doesn't.
I am a mature gamer as u would say and I am not done with minecraft, I've played for a good few years now on my survival world, and for me building is what keeps me interested. I agree pandas, fish etc were all ait meh, but let's face it, the village and pillage is not just a few useless mobs. New mechanics, trading, villager professions Will all change the way we play the game.
Plus as I stated I like building and the fact we got new slabs, new stairs, new walls and new blocks coming like barrels and campfires will all add to the rich texture and immersive environments I like sculpting out of a bare piece of land. Sure shaders would be nice to add another dimension to builds but for me it's not essential, it takes time and a good eye to make rich environments from the vanilla game. I don't use texture packs or use the marketplace at all. I would not swap the new slabs. stairs, walls and blocks for shaders no way, not to mention all the other things that have come like kelp blocks, coral and water logged blocks, and things to come like Berry bushes and new villager mechanics for example.
I don't see how u can be upset at the amount of content you have at your disposal. Be creative and inventive and get yourself a goal to aim for like crafting a huge open world to explore made by your own hands and effort.
Any other game you buy is a short experience when compared to the possibilities minecraft offers you.
Have you even seen what the shaders are? Shaders add better lighting, functioning shadows, reflections in water, more 3D textures on things like rails, and according to Mojang for the super duper graphics pack, the ability to customize textures to the point you can make ore blocks glow.
The game needs this pack a hell of a lot more than it needs the village and pillage update that bends over all endgame players and gives us a rectal exam, breaking all of our farms and permanently removing the ability to set new ones back up.

It really is sad that your interest in the game is about how good it looks and not what it gives you. To re-itterate someone else's point on a game where everything is made of pixelated cubes.
I'd take bug fixes over shaders aswell. Realms lag fixes over shaders a myriad of other things before worrying about how 3d the rails look or the reflections on the water.
Farms are broken in most updates and have to be redesigned. Instead of whinging about how you don't have shadows, how about designing new ways to farm what's broken.
I'm sure you will carry on moaning so good luck with that.

It's very clear you aren't an end-game player, or you would know this is not like the other times farms are being broken. Before, the farms just had to be changed to achieve the same thing. With the new update, iron farms are IMPOSSIBLE to get even 1/100th of the iron they currently can. Villager trading, which is currently infinite so long as you have the materials to reset the trades, will soon only be able to be reset twice per day, resulting in massive losses in efficiency. Almost no new trades were added, so we're basically just getting a couple pretty buildings for the entire village portion of the update. That's horrendous.
Fantasy is horrible. There are a handful of cool blocks from Fantasy but most are hard on the eyes. Natural is decent but I still prefer Default over Natural overall. Never seen Chroma Hills. I have some pretty incredible builds I am dying to see with the shader. No texture pack is going to do what the promised shader pack would do. It's a game changer for me.
