So this has been brought up before and labeled as "Working As Intended" on a quick Google search that leads to these official forums; however I am going to bring it up again.
WE CANT SEE ANYTHING ON REALMS! The RENDER DISTANCE is economy at best. My friends and I constantly get lost any time we leave the base. I don't always have a perfect map on me and I don't like playing with coordinates on. It breaks immersion (yes, Minecraft can be so immersive that when you leave the house finally the real world looks strange.)
I pay 10 dollars a month, that's 120 dollars every year, for a server where my friends and I are having more frustration than fun. Hardware limitations is not an excuse. Not a good enough excuse for me. We sit around waiting for Super Duper Graphics 2 years after it's proposed release date, the game on XBOX 1X itself is slugging like a dying mule, and the Mojang monopoly on private server rental for console players is making it impossible to enjoy a shared world.
My friends and I should not have to download the world and play offline every time we play together just to enjoy the game. I want to say right now I just got off the phone with nitrado who will be offering -- cancel that--- are already READY to offer private servers forfor cross-platf Bedrock users, but they're waiting on you Mojang to update Nintendo Switch and most importantly Xbox to allow players to search and join these third party servers.
The NANOsecond they do I will be taking my monthly tithe of 10 (maybe more since they offer higher ram options) to Nitrado.
Just so this isn't JUST a rant, does anyone else agree or are you all happy playing Minecraft with the eyesight of a dog? Scenic vistas and general sense of direction? Must be for the birds, huh?
This game is therapy and amazing, but this is not good enough. I don't plan to play PC anytime of the future, I enjoy the convenience and streamline of a console and so do most people nowadays you guys really need to take better care of console players.
I thought it was the same render distance as single player Is this not the case? I don't play on realms as I consider £10 each month somewhat excessive whatever the render distance.
No, Mojang really cheaped out on this one. I don't know why, considering they make enough money. The worst part is that by marking this as works as intended they're basically telling us to suck it. if you're going to offer us crappy servers at least let nitrado and other third parties in on the game so we have an option to enjoy our Minecraft experience with our friends on Xbox and the
I hate the vastly-reduced render distance too, but it's nowhere near enough of an inconvenience to make me forego realms entirely. I've built a massive tower and am working on a city around it that I'd never have been able to do without realms.
What's the point of a massive tower or city if you can't see it all at once? Not even from the nearby mountain? Why can't you have done that without a private server?
I think you're missing the entire point. What's your point exactly?

Without trying to speak for him, I think his point is pretty clear We agree that render distance could be further, but it's still usable. At the end of the day it's what you've got. Use it or don't
Complacency is the highest form of evil. Give us playable render distance.
Lol, really? I think you're being a little over dramatic. When you grow up you'll realise there are more important things to stamp your feet about. This isn't one of them.

I will be able to see almost all of it, or maybe even all of it, at once when it's done. I couldn't have done it with a player-hosted server because it would drastically cut the amount of time I'd be able to work on it. Realms allows me to join the world and work regardless of my or anyone else's schedule. Now that pretty much all of the Realms bugs are fixed (lookin' at you, one-shotting Blazes), it's simply too valuable to not have.
If you and all of your friends are really this upset about this, your lives must be fantastic for this to be the top of your annoyance list.

First off you don't know anything about me, I'm 31 years old I do not need to grow up any further. I work for a Fortune 100 company and I know good customer service when I see it. The render distance is not acceptable.
If Mojang it's not going to up the quality of the render distance and the realm service in general then they should allow us to rent from other parties. as far as what I have to make my life feel complete that's really none of your business sir or ma'am.
If you don't think this is bad Google it. I'm not the only one who feels this way. and guy why the hell are you playing Minecraft at work?
Give us the update so we can take our dollars to a server service who deserves it.

He didn't say he played it at work Read the post properly. As for your age, you may be 31 but act 13. Your job is irrelevant and doesn't make you entitled to anything. You're clearly of a generation who expects the universe to revolve around them. The game is the way it is. If you can't handle it don't play it Nobody is forcing you.

what I feel entitled to is being able to see 12 feet in front of me in Minecraft on my Xbox one x
One could make the arguement for downloading, configuring, and running the freeBedrock server software (it's in alpha, but works well enough for me).
I'm a console player. We don't have the luxury of downloading anything good. You should see the store for texture packs. It's very lackluster. it's just frustrating this whole thing because we are world-building and we have a seed that has seven villages around the mountain you stand on top of the mountain and you can't see any of the villages. It's annoying just a beautiful world and we can't see it.

Ah yes. Even I forget that this great adventure called Better Together includes other platforms. My bad, honest brain fart. I think the problem with this is in the way that the render distance is set by the game rather than the clients? Not too long ago they changed the Nether fog because it was horrible. With many mobile devices playing (and even some older PCs) the high render distances would degrade performance. I have mine locally set at 12 chunks on my laptop and my phone, but if I use a texture pack over 32x then my devices begin to lag.
Exaggeration doesn't help your argument. Facts will. Twelve feet? Really?
Fine let me put it this way. say that guy who's playing Minecraft at work earlier on who said he couldn't have built his "tower" without a realm to access... what's the point of a big tower Castle or mountain or whatever it is you're on if you can't see outside of your yard?
Aesthetic disappointment aside my friends and I are constantly getting lost. Just kills the whole room for me. Obviously I'm not asking mojang to increase it because they won't, but at least allow of console players to access third parties like nitrado. They offer higher ram with their servers and I would gladly pay the premium for it. This is a monopoly. If I don't like realms calling me a child and trying to argue with me isn't going to change my mind. Nothing anyone here could say would change my opinion on how disappointed I am in realms.
He wasn't at work, for the second time. Try reading what people say. Your choice is really simple. If you don't like realms for whatever reason, don't use it. Nobody forced you. I don't play much now, not until we get shaders. But when I do, we just play online without using realms If you want to play together with friends, I'm assuming you're actually playing together so surely you're all online at the same time, so you don't need a realm. Or am I missing the point?
I refuse to believe you work for a Fortune 100 company with your typing and reading comprehension skills.
I never once said anything about playing while at work. I don't know how on earth you jumped that far. I said realms are great because I don't have to work around someone else's schedule with having a world loaded up.
You got defensive so fast that I wouldn't be surprised if it set some kind of record. All I say is that your life must be great if you're really so concerned about something like this and you go flying off on a tangent about your job and stuff. I also never told you to grow up.
Yeah Realms are a massive disappointment. Not to mention that it has the lowest possible simulation distance setting too. But now I'm on an external server and all problems are solved
