I will try to be as descriptive as possible in this post but will try and get to the point - Do guardians spawn correctly in Minecraft Bedrock 1.2.3?
I've been doing a little testing in a creative world after an unsuccessful build of Gnembons Guardian Farm and have found that once the Ocean Monument is cleared and a farm built, very few or no guardians spawn. I have built Gnembons in both creative and survival and also tried a few others - Even going for just a basic tank with a solid roof. I have made sure that I am 25 blocks away but within 128 blocks to get out of their detection radius and have done this all on a realm (survival part) or local world (creative tests) with no other players.
Has anyone built a working farm? Are the spawn rates just really really low on guardians? I noticed a previous bug report regarding guardians not spawning but this was the previous version and showed as 'fixed'.
Any suggestions are welcome

I'm running into the same thing. They were not spawning at all, then the last update seemed to fix that. But now the rates seem to be very low. I seem to be getting slightly more spawns when the tank is all water, not just a layer at the top flowing down. But it's still really low. I hope this isn't the new normal for spawn rates.
I assume there not many post on this subject because the Guardian farm is one of the more difficult farms to make. I have built two farms both in Java in two different worlds. They work GREAT!!
Since playing windows 10 I was excited to get started on another guardian farm. For all those sea lanterns for my lighting systems. Trying to recreate the farms from 3 years ago. I got started. After finishing the farm the spawn rate seemed off. Then I noticed I made a mistake. So i proceeded to rectify the mistake. 5 hours later. Although the farm was the same as the others in Java the spawn rate was even worse.. Now I will proceed to take the farm back to the way it was with the mistake. Since the farm with the mistake worked better then the farm that was fixed. I have an idea how maybe to make the spawn rate even better.
Does your farm have a roof over it? If it does. Try this, copy your world, and then remove the roof off the farm, and see if it helps, especially at night. If you notice much increased mobs when the roof is removed, its because there seems to be a bug that requires mobs to have sky access to spawn, or at least the spawn rates are HUGHLY effected when they have sky access.
If it does help you can go back to your real world and remove the roof, or wait for this bug to be fixed.
Thanks for suggestion . Since i play on XB1X the copy paste thing is out. But I will try the roof removal. It also seems that the fix was raising the whole spawn area up 3 blocks. Which resulted in a less spawn rate. So what I'm thinking instead of lowering it back down the 3 blocks which was a better spawn rate. Is to lower the whole thing down 6 and see how the spawn rate is affected there. Might even wait till the up date aquatic which surely will change everything lol
I have an interesting situation with my farm that's makes this even more frustrating especially since this is my first go at creating a guardian farm. Unfortunately my monument spawned over a ravine. So there is a massive cavity underneath the base of the monument. It's also being held up by stilts all the way down to the bottom.
At first I just cleared down to the base and set up the farm. But I noticed they were spawning below the base and not in the tank. So I took the time to clear out the entire cavity under the base of water. Now they won't spawn under the base anymore. But still will not spawn in the tank. I've checked to make sure I'm the correct distance away and they shouldn't need sky access since they could spawn under the base. So the roof on the tank shouldn't be a problem.
Im kinda stuck now and the only thing I could think of is maybe moving the farm down further because I know they will spawn underneath.
Could the pillars going down to the bottom of the ravine count as part of the bounding box. Making the actual area of spawning further down?
I started building a new one recently (guardian farms always seem like a great way to get experience) and noticed a few things.
I decided to try building a massive one by not draining it, but instead building up a wall all the way around. Then, I knocked down the monument, but kept the prismarine floor. It was getting difficult due to all the guardian spawns. Looked like it was going to be a good farm this time. So I filled the floor with gates, with the intent to knock out the floor afterward and build a capture system below. But as I put in the gates, fewer and fewer guardians spawned. When I was done, no guardians spawned at all. I put in a platform in the water, they start spawning again.
Guardian spawning rules changed, they need solid blocks with at least one layer of water on top. I don't know if flowing water counts.
Also, from what I've seen and seeing some comments from others, I think the spawn area is now all the way down to bedrock. Haven't tested if it's higher than sea level. So I don't think your ravine is really having an effect. I think the rules changed.
Ive placed some beams inside the tanks and looks like I've got some guardians spawning. But unfortunately it lead to yet another problem. Apparently guardians can swim in lava now? So I have to redesign the killing system.
It seemed to sort itself out. It only happened a couple times, it's probably just a minor bug. It happened once before I had the monument cleared out. Somehow one got into my quarry and was floating halfway down.
Couldnt get a screenshot but if it happens again I'll get one
I have done some testing on my Xbox one realm. Guardians are spawning better open to sky, they will spawn next to solid blocks but not on a transparent platform with no solid blocks. They won't spawn above sea level. They will spawn in lava. I haven't tested on transparent blocks next to solid blocks. They won't spawn on a sign platform.
