yeah, I saw a baby zombie riding a pig too, though never seen this prior to BT. Mobs seem highly motivated in this update and possibly agro on player at longer range now too?
I converted my world, and although it took ages to do so, it did a pretty good job at it, though when I first entered the world after conversion I had no armor and was out in the middle of nowhere, once I reloaded the world it put me where I should have been, with all my tools and what not.
Overall the beta runs very very well, but some bugs like mobs able to spawn on glass, and most of my spawners not working make the beta a bit hard to really play around in. It also did not convert special areas like my quad witch huts, which hopefully will be fixed in later versions.
I hate the UI, but i'll get used to it I guess.
I love the ability to change my render distance. The game runs much faster on my console then previous versions did. I did run into several issues with redstone, but most were easily fixable.
I have not tested or played with new mob limits, and would be very interested in seeing new numbers, especially villager and passive mob limits, that is if there are any.
I absolutely love that they are going to do betas, so that we can actually get it tested before any release that kills our worlds, something 4J should have done along time ago.
In the end the beta needs worlk, but its will worth downloading and playing around with IMHO.
I have chickens out the wazoo, and it keeps letting me breed more. So the new cap is something north of "out the wazoo".
It may just be an intended adjustment, but crops definitely grow much slower than they do on the Java version. I had wheat go from new planting to fully grown in about 1-1/2 in-game days in Java v1.12. It seems to take 3-5 days in the beta. I haven't gone back into Xbox One version to compare, but my experience in the Java version feels more like what I remember from the console version.
Found a bug: you can't trigger trap doors while "crouched" on a ladder. So if you have a tall ladder leading to a trapdoor and you want to close it behind you as you descend, you have to try to catch it as you drop. You can't stop on the ladder and close it.
They really need to release a higher-quality skin or two for the beta. Game runs great now, but the textures are the simplest and most horrible ones available. How's it going to perform with 22 chunk render and actual flowing water and higher quality textures?
Has anyone that has converted a map over to the beta had any issues with slime chunks? Pocket Edition calculates slime chunks differently than the console or Java edition do. I have some decent slime farms in my console worlds that I hope will work correctly on the Bedrock engine.

From what I read on the bug tracker slime chunks converted correctly, but a bug in the game is making slimes only spawn in the 'dark'.
I made a copy of my primary world and imported it to the Better Together... Boy am I happy I did that. I loaded the world (I do my copies in creative) and discover I'm 20 blocks underground where my underground base was....My base is completely gone. EVERYTHING, automated wheat farm, storage of my armors, iron golem farm, hoppers. I was extremely disappointed, I look to see the whole map area was updated..... Then I find the location of my distant villager docking station (luckily that was far enough away to not me altered), I discover my one key farming villager (had him for several updates, that he has 2 separate wheat trades) is now reset to only having one... Then also with the new maps, they are to small.
+1 on the ui. It's terrible. They def should have kept the console version. The way it moves things around in your inventory is super annoying and moving things from the tool bar to inventory is clunky.
Wheat and trees take forever to grow and seem much more "resistant" to bone meal.
Running seems faster. Walking and jumping is too loud.
I prefer playing console because I like playing with a controller but the UI is pushing me to start playing the PC version again.

Yes.
The maps are like the PC version, place paper around the map in a crafting table to zoom out the view. You can do this several times.
Yes, but...when I upgraded the map the first time, it said that the scale was going from 1:1 to 1:2. And so it did and I filled in the new (still pretty small) map. Then I went to upgrade it again, but the resulting map said it was going to be identical? Still "level" 1/4 and scale 1:2? Does the 2nd (and subsequent) upgrade still work even though the crafting table says it's just going to make an identical map?
Wheat and trees take forever to grow
And sugar cane, which is why i was hesitant to upgrade my map a 2nd time - didn't want to waste the paper which currently is hard to come by.
Walking and jumping is too loud.
Thankfully, the latest patch (1.2.0.25) fixed the sound levels. Much less annoying now and I think jumping is smooth again like it was in the console version. Or maybe I've just adjusted my timing.
yeah, it seems to tell you that you're about to craft the same scale map again, but it does upgrade after crafting. I had the same concerns! With the full size map, its also quite tricky mapping as is a bit harder to tell if you're filling every pixel. I have this nightmare that ill craft nine adjacent maps only to find that there is an unmapped pixel somewhere.
Unless they implement a map zoom, maybe you'll want to carry around 4 of the half-resolution maps along with your main full-size map for each area, and use the "zoomed" maps to make sure the big map is really filled in.
And add "stack of paper" to your normal traveling pack. Can't just bring an empty map or two now...
I just converted my world to the beta version...2 things so far that didnt work...villager breading not working anymore, and i had to craft new fireworks, using the old ones makes the game crash.
It's a big change but I'm getting used to it. My main complaint so far is it seems there isn't support for south paw controller. I'm a righty but play games lefty, don't really know why. In the controller options, it has the ability to remap the walking, strafing etc but I can't figure out how to remap to the actual controller sticks. Buttons sure, just not the sticks. I've nearly thrown myself off of a few cliffs trying to play it as a righty. Ugh.
A lot of my machines don't work. My item sorter did, so that's good. But my slime rail gen, unlimited oven, and melon farm do not work anymore. Otherwise, looks great.

You can do this with the xbox one itself... Go to settings - kinect & devices - devices & accessories - configure - button mapping, and there is an option to "swap sticks".

Yup, tried that. It's not quite the same as with the southpaw profile. I'm getting used to the normal controller layout and haven't thrown myself off a cliff in a while now!

Two questions - will Realms work? And can you go on top of the Nether and actually make things?

Great to hear that Realms works. Thank you!
And I keep forgetting that this isn't a port of the PC version...so yeah if above the nether didn't work before, it probably won't work now.

Add a little butter to the breadcrumbs. They'll stick better and not float off when you drop the villagers into the hot oil.
