If your reading this thread , you probably already know that 4J Studios should have given us Command-Blocks a long time ago...
So that's why Ive come with a solution.
Personally i don't think 4J trusts us enough to give us a "Real Command-Block" due to lack of players with the ability to use a keyboard #_#, but there is a way around that.
They could use this as an opportunity to implement mods into console edition.
for example here is a sample menu that i made
what kinda mods would you guys like to see in a menu like this?
Honestly I agree with you that this is possibly the only way that command blocks would work correctly in a console environment. There are a couple of problems that 4J would have to work out first.
1. Most command blocks need to run in the spawn chunks in order for the commands to continuously run. The console edition does not have spawn chunks, so they would have to be added.
2. People want to use what everyone all the cool and crazy command block designs that they see in numerous YouTube videos. The problem with the console solution with the UI to select a command would be that we would be limited to what 4J releases in the list. With our luck it would be something that they would want to charge extra for ($1.00 for each command that you want to add to your library? Or a bundle of commands for $5.00?)
3. People would want to write their own commands, which they should be able to do. It's a great idea in theory, and I know that they could easily plug a keyboard into their console to do so. I don't honestly know what happens if a set of commands is entered incorrectly in the PC version. Does it just not work, or can it totally trash the world? A lot of console players have never played the PC version and don't really know anything about command blocks, or the commands that can be entered. Some are fairly simple with just a few lines of text. Others are much more complicated branching thousands of lines of code across multiple command blocks. In a PC environment this is fairly simple, you can just write the commands to a text editor then copy and paste them into your command block(s). We don't have that luxury on the console. You can also go to websites to generate commands for command blocks and copy and paste that code into the command block(s). That's not really possible either on the console.
I am all for command blocks coming to the console edition... as long as 4J can do them right. I just don't want to have to pay for scripts that everyone else gets for free online to add some additional functionality or flair to the game. It's bad enough that we have to pay for skins and resource packs. They need to stop nickel and diming the console players to death over every little thing.
I don't think you realise that command blocks does not equate mods.
im fully aware of that , but the odds of minecraft console edition even getting a real fully functional command block are very low
and this post was created before they announced that we would be getting "addons" so this was my way of making the best out of the situation.
as much as i want actual command blocks on console edition i don't think we will be getting any in the near future.

i agree with both of you.
no one (including me) wants to pay for mods us pc players can get for free, But company's are company's and people are people.
i know it might seem stupid but almost everyone wants more money then they actually need .
