I've recently written an iPhone app that allows users to connect and control their Minecraft servers. The app connects using the Minecraft server's RCON protocol, so it should work with every vanilla version of MC (with RCON enabled and set up correctly) as well as modded versions with the same support.
The app allows users to execute basic RCON commands from a main menu - These commands affect things like time of day, saving, weather, global messaging and stopping the server. The main menu also allows users to execute custom commands, as well as saving them to the menu for future use.
Users are also able to bring up a player list which displays all the currently connected players. From here, players can be whispered, kicked, banned, teleported to a location, teleported to another player, given XP and given items. When giving items to a player, a list of every possible item is displayed, as well as a bar to select the quantity.
An internet connection on the device (3G or better)
A Minecraft server with RCON support
RCON enabled in the server.properties file
An RCON password set in the server.properties file
An RCON port specified in the server.properties file
Firewalls to allow connection to the appropriate UDP port you specified in server.properties
Port forwarding on your router to allow connections to this port
You having testing that the RCON works on your server by other means before commenting on the app if it doesn't work.
The app has been rigorously tested with multiple Minecraft servers, including some in a VM (a nightmare for port-forwarding externally). I'm happy to help anyone that has any issues connecting with the app, and I'd love to hear any suggestions you may have for future features or fixes.
I am well aware the app is not the nicest thing to look at, but I'm not a designer and this is the best I could cobble together in terms of looks. There will be larger updates in the near future in which I may very well change the UI completely. Again, suggestions
So, what this Tool does is be able to connect to MC computer servers?
Sweet.
Anyone running a Minecraft server that supports the RCON feature can connect using this app (even over 3G connections). Obviously this is assuming they've set up the RCON properly in the server.properties file, by specifying the port, password and enabling rcon. That means anyone running a "vanilla" version of Minecraft, out of the box, can use this app to check on their game remotely, and even interact with players etc.
The app also works with Bukkit and Tekkit servers, but all functionality is not guaranteed at this time (there are no special commands for Bukkit or Tekkit, but there will be in the next release).
Version 1.0.3 is out, and has support for players connected to Bukkit or Tekkit servers. There is no other support regarding these modded servers yet, only the fixed ability to interact with players that are currently connected.
Next update will be a much larger interface overhaul.
Hey guys, I'm looking for some panoramic pictures of some minecraft landscape.. Or the know-how to do a decent one myself. 360 degree panoramic images would be preferable.
I'll give credit to anyone who provides an image used in-app.
hey, I was wondering how RCON is connected, like is it an SSH login console or what? Or is it it's own sort of protocol? I tried to do some research, and couldn't find anything :/

If you need any help with any computer issues, check my website for contact information. I also do Minecraft Mods... well basic ones, I can make blocks that do specific things. I've also dabbed into making Plugins... like before, simple plugins

Minecraft's RCON is a stateless protocol. There's no connection (persistent).. There's a handshake that authenticates the password - a token is retrieved that the app uses to execute following commands. When the token expires another one is generated. Every command that is executed uses a token to authenticate it. When the command completes the transaction is finished. RCON takes place using UDP packets which are connectionless, unlike TCP.
There are prebuilt RCON libraries for almost every platform.. I've modified one for iOS... Quite easy to play around with. Find someone's example or demo and have a crack at using it

Hi,
If I get the response I'm looking for with the new release, I will probably look in to an iPad version.
The same goes for more server types. If there's enough interest, I'll add other types. Feed the beast looks to use a lot of mods, so I'd need to do some testing first. I may be adding another couple of server types in the near future, I'll look at FTB as one of them.

There's only the server password you set in the server.properties file. You can view instructions on setting this up on my site. I'm looking for help regarding Minecraft item feeds, etc. If anyone has any technical knowledge of minecraft data feeds/sources, I'd very much appreciate you taking a look at my post and perhaps making a comment.

Nice week
I've made my app available Worldwide - I'm not sure why you'd need to change your store location. Please contact Apple for support in this case.
