(I hope this is the right section. I'm still pretty new to win10 but I hear that the resource pack format is practically the same as PE.)
I've been working on a resource pack for Windows 10 edition lately, but when it comes to adding in the grass side textures, I've been having a bit of an issue. The transparency doesn't seem to work and the sides of my grass blocks look like this.
I've double checked to make sure I saved everything properly using the default vanilla pack that Mojang provided as a reference, and I tried using both .tga and .png files. Not sure where to go from here.
I'm having the same problem- did you just change the grass_side.tga ? I cannot even get a grass side to work.... (is it just the dirt.png + the grass_side.tga, or is there an actual independent grass_side texture?)
I've managed to fix it. The semitransparent grass side texture needs to include the dirt, and then you use a layer mask to block it out. Then export as .tga
I'm not the best at putting it into words, and I know the process differs a bit among image editors.
For GIMP (The program I'm using):
Open up the grass_side texture (The one that includes the dirt in the texture). Make sure the grassy part is gray so the game can recolour it properly using the biome palette.
Right click on the layer and select "Add Layer Mask > White"
Select all of the dirt pixels, and fill in the area with black on the layer mask image. (Areas of the mask filled in with black instead of white will be unaffected by the biome palette.)
