So now you can host a server. You are well prepared enough to post a thread here. But are you really prepared?
Note these points first.
1. Can everyone connect to your server? If you are using a paid server hosting service, this point is negligible. But otherwise, test if tour server is really open to the world.
- disconnect from the network you use to host your server. Go to your neighbor's home or connect to your mobile's 3g/4g network. Can you connect to the server with the information that you prepare to give on this forum? If not, go to your home router settings and see if you ported forward the server correctly. Then go to http://whatismyipaddress.com to find the CORRECT EXTERNAL IP address that others must use to connect with. IP addresses starting with 192.168 are the most common wrong IP, which is an internal IP that only people using your home network can use properly.
If you are not using any server software other than the MCPE developed by Mojang, ignore the following.
2. Connect to the world with a new username. Make sure the power is correctly set, that a normal player logs in with survival mode (if that is what you want) with the restricted power to use commands. Doing /help can check this.
3. What are players (not) supposed to do in this server? If you have strange rules, make sure to put signs saying about that at spawn. All new players spawn at the spawn where you get teleported to when you do /spawn. Even if your rules are normal, put signs there to stop players from arguing when they get caught and are too be punished.
4. Remember to tell users that usernames containing spaces and characters not in the ASCII table would get nanned., if you use pocketmine, because of the commands.
5. If your server is whitelisted, remember to ask players to put their named under the topic, or else they would spam the topic with "I can't join but anyway can I be op when it is fixed?"
6. If your server is not long-lasting, like, shut down in 24 hours, put that also in your topic, to do a good deed for everyone, for the forums and everyone that the forums won't get so overloaded (then maybe curse has to sell more ads to earn money to pay for databases, and more ads is not good at all for all of us; and for players that they will waste their precious time trying to reconnect or try to build something that is in fact a large project, which is not possible to finish if your server is soon closing (forever).
And as a good member in this society of minecraft pe download the plugin SimpleWorlds (if using pocketmine) and upload the map in ZIP to something like GitHub or DropBox or MediaFire, just to repay players for joining. And this is also positive for your reputation. And promising such action can surely encourage players to join your server.
(Thanks to @prateeksharma for pointing this out)
I can be found on Freenode IRC channels #pocketmine, #ModPEScripts, #LegendOfMCPE, #pmplugins or #BeaconMine.
I am a PocketMine-MP plugin developer. I hate it when people think that I love stupid admin positions. Being an admin is nothing compared to being a plugin developer.
I am also a main developer of BlockServer, a work-in-progress MCPE server software. You are welcome to download it, but it so far onlly spawns you in the upther (above the world). You can chat, though.
I do not own this server but I just love to put this banner here:
Umm, I would like to add a point friend.
Please do not add instantmcpe servers as professional servers.
and if you add a instantmcpe server, mention this in the topic also so that people dont try to connect to it after 24 hours and waste thier time.
But apart from this, you have done a good job!
