Hello,
While at my university; me and my friend created a minecraft world, and hosted it on LAN accross the university's network. Now that we are both out of school, having had experience with hamachi a couple years ago on my old win7 laptop; I decided to try it on my new win8 laptop so we could play despite being counties apart. Unfortunately; although it works on his PC fine; hamachi has some issues with some win8 PCs; where if you click a create/join network button; it does nothing; it just flashes gray as if you pressed it and goes back to an "unpressed" state. Also, seeing how I use a verizon hotspot; a static IP costs $500 USD, and the port forwarding would not work as a result. Is there any alternative other than buying a server? We will not be using that much to warrant that; probably 2-3 times a week.
