I'm still a beginner in MCPE modding, but I'm pretty sure there is no way to overwrite the recipe from minecraft in javascript. As I heard from somebody, there's only addCraftingRecipe, not setCraftingRecipe.
Okie, so I. have tested a few different ways of trying to get something to happen.
You guys know FTB Blood and Bones? Well i'm trying to recreate it for MCPE!
So, I can't find out how to...
1.Make the original crafting recipe for something, I.e bread, not have the default crafting recipe (3 wheat)
2.Make it so when you eat something, I.e. bread, it wont heal as many hearts / hunger bars (2.5 hearts)
3. Make custom armor, I.e. emerald armor, with a custom amount of points (6 armor points for an emerald chestplate)
Help please?
Also, if you help, and want to test it before anyone else, PM me!

I see no reason not to create your own version of the food using the default item texture.
As for the armor use Item.defineArmor()
I will see if I can find the syntax for it
