Hey There I know one screen recorder that does not require root or PC ... But its only for android 4.3 Above!!

Apparently *some* devices still need the PC connection, but some don't now! Like my phone haha! No tethering or USB or root! It works alone now!
Check it out, see if your device works. And my device is old(ish)... dual core android 4.1 works fine.

You can use mobizen which is a screen recorder that does not require over nor root (may need over if it is not in booster mode)
Use this one im using, works at 8fps at most...
But you do need a pc tho

To root your samsung use Samsung Kies from the samsung website. to record, use mobizen from the app store. ive used it and it works great.

There is one appp called mobizen which works smoothly on my android device which is jellybean.I don't know about other devices but it works smoothly on mine.For more details watch this video .

Have you tried AZ Screen Recorder or Shou? I'm not rooted nor have I used a pc to get it to work. Also, what version of Android are you on?
