So, I had an idea for working fire, and it seems very possible. Why not take some properties from the leaves and how they decay and apply to it all blocks when flint and steel is used on it and make it spread. Then take the property from lava and how it goes away when water touches it and apply that to the fire so it can be extinguished. Finally, add a fire graphic (animation-less, of course) and ta- da! Fire in Pocket Edition.
Future updates of the mod could include:
-Making lava catch nearby things on fire
-Make fire hurt the player
-Add animated fire, when possible.
-Make players appear to be on fire from other player's view
Just an idea and concept. Leave your thoughts below!
They removed fire because it spread and eventually destroy the entire world.
You wouldn't want to apply the leaf property to all blocks but only flammable objects (wood).
There is a block in the game files called fire. If you put it in the game it is invisible but gives off light. Maybe mojang is working on something...

It isn't a bug, it was purposely removed from the game.

Retired StaffYup. I remember when Johan asked us on twitter to send him pics of the lava/fire bug. He couldn't figure it out so he just removed it from the game
