Hello all, I am an extremely experienced programmer, and decided for a new project that I should make a new API for mod creation on Android. My ultimate goal is to create a unified API for both platforms, which means that at some point I will port to iOS (probably when I find my device). While it will not be the same code that I have to write to make this unified, I want modders and mod-users to not ever worry about what platform a mod is for, by making the same API for both platforms. So my question is: What, as modders, or mod-users, do you feel is most important in an API? What should be added first? Blocks? Items? More advanced things? All basic questions, but very important and crucial to creating the best API possible. Thank you for your input!

I personally would prefer a simple cheatcode system like actionreplay codes, where you set all the injection code inside a few letters the user can type in. So if you want to hook:

Later on you can add support for a scripting language on top of the hooks. But since ModPE Script is out it would be better to just port this to iOS.
I'm not trying to port mods, I understand that I will need to write two completely different systems for loading mods for each platform. However the goal is to make it so that users (and modders!) can write the same code, which will work on both platforms without a problem.

ModPE script has originally been created by treebl for ioS and the scripting language (which is javascript) has been ported to Android by 500ISE. Now treebl stopped supporting the modpe scripts. So the reasonable thing to do would be to port modpe script back to iOS which sounds like much work, but it really isn't :3

I agree with you there. ModPE do already exist. But, this can be maybe a more 'advanced' version of ModPE. So its not really noob friendly but there will be lots of good mods instead of spam topics like: "Super wand mod [Instakill]"

I like to see that's there's some interest in this idea, however I have put it on hold for an unknown amount of time. My computer is starting to not work all that well, so for now, I don't want to work on something with this large of a scale.
