The minecraft pc is makes lags on the most of android devices and smaller textures would probably use less ram memory than the bigger ones. So probably yes, it would speed the game up.
So far it only looks like vanilla. I'm amazed this even works at all considering that android's JVM is missing a lot of the stuff desktop java applications need to run. I just attempted to do a manual install of forge 1388 by copying over libraries and editing the json to load them and set tweakClass, mainClass, etc.
Boardwalk successfully downloaded and converted all the necessary stuff to dex files, but it seems to ignore the mainClass and the --tweakClass parameters because it just loaded as vanilla despite forge being properly installed.
I'll keep working at it to see what I can come up with. Even if I get it to load Forge, I have a feeling that anything that invokes ChickenBones' DepLoader to run would probably crash out since it actually opens a separate window.
As for performance, superflat overworld preset is playable on my 2nd gen Nexus 7 if I use resolution changer to reduce my resolution to 480x854, 180dpi. Was getting 15-30fps on fastest possible graphics settings. Generating a normal world took around 2 mins, and it spawned me in a jungle biome, which was unplayable with near constant freezing every few seconds. I would imagine skyblock with a small selection of mods like Ex Nihilo and a couple others would be lightning fast as there's basically nothing to render.
Also, to the dev: Please separate the jump and other buttons instead of cluttering them in that tiny dpad like MCPE. Its impossible to use multiple buttons because some devices can't register 2 touches in such a small area at the same time (especially a 7" tablet and most phones).
Hoping you can get mainClass and --tweakClass working as well so we can get forge running on this thing. Another suggestion would be to have the ability to run as a dedicated server instead of client. Awesome job so far though!
Would running a 1x1 texture pack increase speed?

Wonder which devices are getting the best FPS. 1.7.10 on super flat with 1x1 textures is playable on my Nexus 7 2nd gen
lots of lag
