X is west-east, Y is up-down, Z is north-south. (Don't ask why Y is up/down; I've no idea.)
I wouldn't have guessed that Y is up/down! That explains some of my confusion. Is it the case that 1 unit is one block, that is, that each block is 1 unit square? Is your altitude measured at your feet? (That's my assumption.)Oh, also ... is there any way in-game to identify north vs east, etc? Are you likely to add editing the inventory of chests or furnaces any time soon? Or are you waiting for the 3rd party libraries to implement required functionality before you can do that?
