I play mcpe on a unrooted kindle fire.
so do I lolz, but the only way to do it without pirating it is to sideload
from android or use the android market. If you don't care about copyright
laws you just have to download it off of the Internet and install it. Also,

with quickoffice, as I said, and I recommended 500ISE's epic inventory
editor, because its really useful. Unless you are a genius or know how to
make mods yourself, pockettool is required for mods.
Is nobody else really having the same problem as me? I've tried re-installing PocketTool, rebooting, etc. etc. and every freaking time it just uninstalls Minecraft for me and when it goes to install the modded version it says "Application not installed". I have to reboot just to reinstall Minecraft from the Google Play Store, or else it'll give me that "error code -24" message when installing.
If anything, could someone just give me their modded .apk file? I can prove that I bought the full version with a screenshot from my Nexus 7. The only mods I really care about are the Anti-Fog (either version) and the Longer Day... I'd appreciate it

Do you have "Unknown sources" enabled? It's usually found in Settings > Applications > Unknown sources. It should be checked, otherwise Android will refuse any app from being installed outside of Google Play.

Get a fresh copy of minecraft PE, then go to your file browser. Go to Android, then data, then delete the pockettool folder (make sure to backup texture packs and skins) When pockettool is opened it will create a fresh copy of the files, then you can install the mods, make sure to have "Installation of applications from unknown sources" enabled, and to uninstall PE when it prompts you to. Also, I saw something online about a certain version of Pockettool having problems with modpatching, try updating your version. If all else fails, give me your email and I'll send you the modded .apk file Lastly, I have been having problems with the longerdays mod. Every time I use I have a regular day, then it suddenly becomes the end of a night, and the sky starts brightening again. Then there is a regular night, and the whole thing restarts. As if every other night were only a few seconds long. Any ideas why?
Can you PLEASE change the new 0.3.3 mods to something other than dropbox because there is an error on the dropbox page and i cant download them and please add the smooth lighting mod to 0.3.3 because I love the smooth lighting combine with the antifog on my tablet it looks amazing
500ies is maby working hard on some greater mod like pc mod or like pc graphic or working on transporting mods like caves!! To 0.3.3 and i cant believe my (crack version/maby not because i did not pay for it!) still work with out license verification errors..... i think one day make a license verification free! .mod!! :-) for Android

I have Unknown Sources on (it's one of the first things I turn on with each new phone/tablet/etc.), and I had the most up to date version of PocketTool. I'll try one last time, I did everything you said when I was having the problems though. I ended up having to factory reset, as it would no longer let me install Minecraft PE though reboots and deleting Google Play Store data/cache. I ended up losing all my in-app purchases for other games, which pissed me off a good bit. Anyway, I'll go try one more time. If it ends up not working, I'll probably take you up on that offer of an .apk file. I hope Mojang adds official mod support soon for PE.
EDIT: I've noticed that sometimes PocketTool won't make the data folder until a few re-opens of the app. It's really finicky. Also, has anyone else noticed that with the newest PE update that gives us 7 slot bars, you can only have those 7 slots if you use the regular default controls? If you use the Split Controls it gives only 4 (or something like that. Can't remember exact number at the moment.). Maybe we could get a mod that'll bypass that. Dunno why it's like that though.

I think this is actually something with the mcpe update. I ran into it too and thought it was quick patch acting up. I managed to fix it by deleting all the /data/data/com.mojang stuff with x-plore (root file manager).
