you can make copys pf the lib also with a non-rooted android!
I only wanted to say....
and btw your link is dead.
Updated the link. I mean I can copy libminecraft.so from /data/data/, edit it, and then copy it back in, instead of having to mess with APKs or pockettool and the whole reinstall process. It makes testing the patches really quick... I can look at objdump output on my laptop, hex edit a few bytes on the phone, copy the edited lib back into /data/data/ and it's done.
I realized that since my phone is rooted, I can just make copies of minecraftpe.so and hack stuff in there with a hex editor on my phone while looking at the objdump output. I managed to follow the slots mod tutorial like that and get 5 slots.
I still have no idea how the fog thing was done. I want to add the fog back in but move it farther away, and have far rendering. I don't really have any clue what most of these ARM instructions are so I've been using this cheatsheet I found. I may have to ask for some help, 500 ISE
This stuff is kind of fun, it's like game genie for phones
That's a very helpful method. Sadly, I have a non-rooted tablet, so I have to build full .apks on the desktop to test.
I keep a link of helpful links at the bottom of https://github.com/zhuowei/MinecraftPEModWiki/wiki/ARM-assembly-hexadecimal-representation-recipes . http://www.peter-cockerell.net/aalp/html/ch-3.html has a nice list of ARM instructions.
Most Pocket Edition code matches desktop edition code, so if you have a copy of the Minecraft Desktop Edition decompiled source from the Minecraft Coder Pack, you can match up bits of the code.
If you need any help, feel free to PM me. Good luck.

I haven't exactly looked through the entire forum for an answer or this topic but is there a way to uninstall mods you don't like from pockettool? I installed the no fog w/ render change, 3d enabler and item bar changer but can't disable the 3d mod or uninstall it?
If you re-install Minecraft I believe it will take off all the mods.
When you put all the patch.mod files on your SD card, it will ask if you want to replace or change the name.
But you can install the patches one by one, and the others will still work.
Wow thats really annoying... My sd card doesnt come out of my Evo unless I take the battery out so Im going to have to do it twice... :L
I wonder if the 3D anaglyph would work with my HTC Evo 3D? :3

Yeah, and nuke your settings... the other problem is pocket tool stores a patched copy, so if you try to apply another patch it will put them all back in. You can get around it by deleting the copy of libminecraftpe.so that pocket tool stores. I don't remember where that is exactly, I think somewhere in /mnt/sdcard/data/com.snowbound.pockettool/
For the creeper why can't we take the entities from the pc minecraft and put it in pocket edition? And is there a way you can fix the smooth lighting for the stronger phones?

Because PC Minecraft is developed in Java, and Pocket Edition's in C++.
No, I can't fix smooth lighting, as I can only unlock features that Mojang made. They'll have to fix it. (Now you know why it is disabled. )

The language of the dumped file is ARM Assembly, which is a very low level programming language.
There's a fairly old guide at http://www.peter-cockerell.net/aalp/html/frames.html . It has the basic concepts of assembly languages.

3D Anaglyph has worked with every phone and tablet I've tried so far.
PocketTool has a "revert to original" function; read http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1028001-please-help-me-test-my-minecraft-pocket-edition-mod/page__view__findpost__p__15360478 for instructions.
Thanks; I'll take a look at it.
I'm not very good at writing documentation - I'll try; don't expect the next great novel, though.
What I mean is I wonder if it will use the Evo 3D's 3D function instead of me having to wear red/blue 3D glasses.

Curse PremiumI'll take a look at it; I don't think I will be able to make it work, but I'll try.
From what I've read all it has is the ability to announce when someone comes online/offline.
