So, you all know the famed MCedit, right? I'm working on a 3D world viewer/editor that is similar to MCedit, but with a different twists: you can play the world on your computer as if you were playing it in creative mode in MCPE. Now you might ask, why do I need a world editor? Well, have you ever found a project so large you didn't think you'd be able to build it or wanted to build it fast? Ever want to import 3D models into your world? Ever want to import other peoples creations into your world? Or maybe you just want to play MCPE worlds on your computer. Those are just a few of the features I plan to add to this project.
I have so far done the simple tasks such as getting the 3D down, setting up user controls (camera, walking and flying) and opening the chunks.dat into a 3D world. I need to finish texturing (that really is a hard task) and need to remake every block within MCPE in this program. While programming every block sounds like it'd take awhile, just a matter of copy, paste and edit and should go by quickly.
This whole project is written in Java so its multi-platform and uses OpenGL from LWJGL to render in 3D. LWJGL is what PC Minecraft uses for its 3D needs.

One last thing, I am still working on every project I was doing before hand, just now I have more free time. MCPEServer is now being worked on, and even that new and updated MCPEedit I promised.
Download(this version is still in development, it is not yet a full blown editor but rather a 3D world viewer, working to change that)
Big news! I accomplished a lot! I finally got texturing to work, along with shading (fog)! Now time to just program blocks and their spritesheet textures with them.
This looks pretty good. So, it's basically like MCEdit, but with the ability to import PE worlds in?
Well, I shouldn't just say "Like MCEdit". This looks like it's going to be a lot better.
MCedit is for flying around and using selections to edit/import/add blocks and such. This tool will let you walk or fly around the world and either do stuff block by block or you can use tools to do add different shapes and creations, as I said it would let you play MCPE worlds on your computer to edit them with new tools. It would be better to compare it as Minecraft with build mods.

Might as well, it's not that complicated anyway, yet.
Thanks. That explains most all of my questions. I can just hardly wait til it is released!
Wow, good job! Imagine how easy it will be to edit a PE world this way... No more annoying MCedit controlls, player.dat and incompaibility! It looks already promising! Also, will there be an option to edit chest content?
You'll be able to turn off fog and increase render distance, but I don't guarantee all computers can handle anything too high. Now I see why Johan didn't want to increase render distance, it really does lag a lot the higher it gets, and I congratulate Aaron and Johan now on figuring out how to prevent that.
As for release, I'll release a world viewer which will let you fly around worlds only, not edit yet. I'm doing that so you guys can tell me how well it works for your computers so I can fix any lag problems and such in the future.
I started coding textures, and so far the code for textures is so bad and dull that I'll praise anyone who can fix it or make it better when I release the open-source version. So far I have it working, but face issues with render distance stuff and need to finish more textures.
(ignore the FPS counter in the title, it isn't accurate at all)
(near-infinite render distance + no fog = more lag than in MCPE)
If you ever need help testing send me a pm. I am trying to start learning coding myself for pocket edition that way I can make texture packs for it as well.

Why would I need this when I can use MCedit on my Pocket Edition worlds instead?

Are there any other new, notable features?
1.- Get rid of white wool when you port maps to PE
2.- Select block by block also with the keyboard

great job, jocopa3!
we all love you (no homo!)
because jocopa3 made it, therefore it is 10x awesomer. that's why.

This program would hopefully have easier controls, and is designed for PE alone

From what I see, yes. You might want to edit your post and remove your UUID and serial number from it...
