This is the official discussion for my new deed and loyalty points plugin for pocket mine.
Here's the idea. A player logs on to your server and learns about a deed system (think deeds from lotro) not quite a quest in that you have to take it, rather they are auto bestowed. When they complete a deed, they get loyalty points or other rewards (at some point deeds and rewards will be configurable).
Here's the problem, I'm stuck on thinking of a name for the plugin and trying to come up with some starter deeds with which to test the plugin.
Here's the solution I came up with,
Have a part in developing this plugin by tossing ideas around for the name or starter deeds, or what to do with the loyalty point (name not final) once a player has earned them. When I have a beta version ready I will post it in this post via an edit. Alright everyone, the discussion starts now. I will +1 every post that offers constructive advice and/or criticism. So "Dude that idea sux" will not be +1'ed.

Dude that idea suxs.
Just joking
u should make one deed like you have to get a block from one chest and have to put it inanother chest. After u put the block in there the chests should both reset so another person can do it.
This ideas actually pretty cool.
Intsead of calling them deeds call them mission but i like the loyality part.
What if you could but peoples land, and they could own it using the area protect plugin.
*buy
I like that idea, perhaps you or someone else could tell me where to get the source code for the area protect plugin so I can figure out how to hook into its code and functions/methods?

LOL, well then so does the +1 I just gave you. In any case, I like the missions idea, though I'm not committing to the name just yet (wanna keep my options open in case I get a suggestion that rings even truer to my ears). I'll look into how to reset the chests, if I can manage that then I believe that that idea for the mission/deed/what have you will be feasible (forgive me if I misspelled that and correct me if I did) thx for the feedback overall

I dont get this? Is it that you get some sort of points for doing something? O.o
That's the basic idea. Have you ever played lotro and earned turbine points for completing deeds? Those turbine points can then be turned into premium items or content (ie expansions / quest packs). The idea for this plugin is inspired by that system. Someone in this topic for example suggested using those points to reserve land for that player. Which I am very excited about potentially implementing. This would then lead players to work hard on your server to earn these loyalty points ( or whatever I'll end up calling them) in order to earn said rewards, which could be items or perks. So with that in mind, what do ya think Hexdro?

Nah I didnt like Lotro, but this could work anyway.
This seems like a good idea though! Maybe Use something similar to the money plugin, however tweak it and change the ways you get the points?
Like If you kill a pigman you get a set amount of points. Kill a player, you get another set amount of points.

The money plugin is similar to this idea, but if I can return to the lotro analogy, you turbine points are seperate from your characters money. Nonetheless, I suppose I could make a way to convert loyalty points into money (just not the reverse as it would devalue the points). And as for the killing idea, I like that, that way you never run out of ways to get the points, though killing a single mob or player would have to award significantly less points than completing a deed or mission would.

Well, regardless, I was looking for a name other than deed so I'm considering it as the official name. Especially considering that I actually like it. And to make it clear I'm looking for suggestions on the names for the points, missions, and the name for the plugin itself (maybe something epic like MissionMinecraft: what's in your pocket.)

I think I'll throw out an idea here and see how the community at large likes it.
In an effort to bring the concept to the attention of new players immediately, they will get a point, and perhaps get launched on a tutorial of sorts that will give them points upon completion. (Of course each player only gets to do the tutorial once per server. Each day that they log in they will also be granted a random (but still small) amount of points. In order to prevent abuse of this feature, the plugin will check the current date and the last logged in date (which will be recorded every time it awards the daily reward and on their first join), and if the dates don't match, it will award said random number of points.
Thanks Goldenquick for the contribution via pm, if u post I will +1 you as thanks for your contribution.

I like that idea another thing is the host could give points to people for being awesome

That feature could actually serve two purposes. Rewards for awesome epicness, and as a failsafe, ie, player complains that a bug or glitch either prevented them from completing a mission or from getting the points in which case a Gm could manually award them the appropriate amount of points and then report said bug or glitch on this thread so that I can look into fixing it.

But one person could lie about that. You should add a command that the host can look at what missions he or she has done. The command could be /(player) .

Easily. Although setting the command name to be the player name is not possible it could be something like /check (player name) or something. For gm's on the console I can make it so that every mission leaves a paper trail of sorts. [so and so completed such and such, their point balance should now be bla bla bla]

Just gonna summarize so far, what the plan is for this plugin,
First off, the initial release is gonna be called MissionMinecraft: What's in Your Pocket? (Unless I hear any other ideas, this is the best idea I've got...)
A mission system will be in place that auto bestows missions to players.
Once a player satisfies the requirements for a mission they will earn points (tentatively called loyalty points) which they will be able to trade in via in game command for certain rewards (diamond gear etc.)
GMs will be able to manually award points.
These are the features I believe I can incorporate into the first beta in a reasonable amount of time. Any comments or suggestions?
