Twice I have started minecraft on my iPad and have had no sound. One was before the update, once after. I have keyboard clicks on my iPad so I know its not that. I have exited the game and turned the iPad off but to no avail.
If you pause the game make sure the mute button is off in the top left? I guess
This is the only thing I can think of, make sure volume level is up on game, iPad and that the iPad isn't set to silent. Never had an issue myself and want able to recreate this without turning something down just now. Good luck
Edit: had a thought, are you using AirPlay? Maybe you have the sound going out to a stereo/tv that isn't on...
Try a "hard" reboot. Turn off the device, then Hold down both the round button at the bottom of the device and the on/off button at the top at the same time. The device will restart and should eliminate all residual memory issues in the device. It has worked for me.
One of the first things you can try is restarting the iPad. This can solve a lot of problems in under a minute. If that doesn’t help you should also try plugging headphones in and removing them. Sometimes this will fix sound issues, as will blowing canned air into the headphone jack port.
If that doesn’t fix the issue, you will need to unmute the iPad using the directions below. Even with the iPad muted, some apps may make noise. It’s odd, but that’s what happens.
Fix no sound in iPad apps.
Swipe up quickly from the bottom edge of the iPad. You need to do this from the very edge of the screen.
This opens the Control Center.
Look for the mute icon. It may show up as a bel, or a bell with a slash through it.
Tap on the bell to unmute your iPad.
You can also check the volume on this screen and turn it up to make sure you can hear the audio.
Another thing to check on older iPads is to see if you have the mute switch on the side turned on. This is a small switch button, that you need to flip to unmute the iPad.
