I found the game's directory on my SD card and found my saves. i thought, maybe my PC saves will work on my Play! I copied a map from my PC and pasted it into the saves on my phone. then i loaded the game and map.
A new map generated :tongue.gif:
Conclusion: Minecraft saves wont work on Minecraft Pocket edition.
Someone should probably throw a save on mediafire or something, I'm kinda interested in what's contained in there. I imagine they're probably using NBT, and the format will be similar to .mclevel from the old days (with many features removed, and with a few added), but maybe it's an entirely different format!
I found a save in the description of . It looks like chunks.dat contains uncompressed terrain data, with one chunk's terrain data starting at 0xa9004 and ending at 0xb1004, and what seemed to be block metadata and lighting data afterwards. The next chunk started at 0xbe004.
Edit: The first chunk started at 0x1004.
At the beginning of the file, there is a table pointing to the location of the classes. Each chunk's location is recorded in 4 bytes. It begins with one bytes that is always 0x15 (length of chunk in 4kb sectors?), then a short containing the location of the chunk in 4kb increments, and then a byte that is always 0 in the save from the video. The offset leads to the chunk header, which is 4 bytes, and always seems to be 04 41 01 00 .
