A series of images was released recently, indicating some interesting changes to tool repairs in the future update. Aside from the standard repair type, it is suggested that combining two different enchanted tools might produce a new tool, carrying the benefits of both:
The days of having numerous tools with a single, useful enchantment may be drawing to a close - while the option to keep numerous enchanted tools remains an option - one common example being, having a separate Silk Touch pickax from the standard ones - the ability to take two tools and make one vastly better one remains a very appealing option for those looking to save on space, or just boost their arsenal of mining, hunting and farming capabilities.
Keep an ear to the ground, as we bring you more updates on these changes.

Wouldn't this make getting god like enchantments very easy? Also would you be able to combine 2 fire aspect 2 swords to get a fire aspect 4? If so then I think it would be over powered. Who knows though it could be a pretty cool idea.
Finally! What if we repair a fortune onto silk touch?

I take it they will make it so that enchantments don't add up, just mix. Like if you had two Fire Aspect 2 swords then it would still just be Fire Aspect 2 but the other enchantments will just merge together like on the pictures. Overwise people could just keep putting the swords that they make together and make a super-sword.

presumably one would cancel out the other, as they work at cross purposes. and silk touch on ores just makes you waste coal (not that youre running low on it.) to get the item. (use a coal to get a coal. really?)
shame i lost my uber max eff, fortune, unbreaking pick. with this i coulda kept that.
and it looks like were gonna have a new block for it as well.
From the looks of it, it's going to have to cost levels, maybe the higher the enchant the higher the cost. And something tells me it's going to be an anvil, not a "new crafting table" or anything of the sort, but an anvil. The crafting cost would have to be something like 7 Iron Ingots or something, maybe in the fashion of a sideways ladder?
I also think you should need a hammer, like in TerraFirmaCraft, depending on what material and what enchants the tool/weapon/armor has, the more durability it takes off the hammer, or something like that.
I think there will be a limit to how many times you can repair something... If there wasn't people could just repair their almost broken silk touch with a normal pick and get a brand new silk which is pretty overpowered.

I think you use levels to repair things like silk touch picks

Edit: Another way to repair tools, interesting... For those that enchant tools from what I see so far...
thank you, person who posted a link on my topic...

In any case, it looks to be expensive to combine enchants like that. At least my friend can finally have his ultimate pickaxe...
