Disclaimer - This mod is not a ripoff of the Aechor Plants from the Aether. I was the one who originally programmed them, and they were modified for the Aether. I am also one of the main developers of the Aether project.
Alright, alright. I know what you're thinking: "Big purple flowers? So what! Those are for Pansies. I'm gonna go look at some MANLY mods that let me wrestle dragons and exhale chest hairs because a flower could never wound me." Sorry sir, but I'll have to ask you to take a seat, because this mod is gonna knock you right off of your anti-botanical feet. Not only do these flowers fight back, they kick butt. Now, take a minute to catch your breath, and I'll walk you through the details.
These little flowers right here are called Bellthorns. As you can see, they come in many sizes. Some are big, some are small, but they all have one thing in common. They try to kill EVERYTHING OTHER THAN THEMSELVES, including YOU. How do they do that? By launching their stamens directly at your unsuspecting face. I don't know if you've ever been skewered by a plant's reproductive organs before, but rest assured, that's one heck of a way to die. Being a plant, they naturally grow on grass, and are completely immobile (but they do dance around!). They also grow in large groups, up to seven in a cluster. And within that cluster, you'll be surprised to see what you find.
They grow in many different sizes. Four techincally six different sizes, to be exact. And different sizes means a different health, and a different range of attack. When you approach a Bellthorn, it will begin to shake and shimmy as a sign of warning. If you get closer to it, it will start to launch stamens at you, about one per second in a slow arc. They are very easy to avoid, but it's very tough to navigate a large cluster of them and emerge unscathed. And with a base damage of 2 hearts, those flowers are full-blown natural auto-turrets.
Of course, you want to know what this little flower is made of, right? Well, just take a look. It's 50% purple, 50% ammunition, and 9000% PURE PAIN. Got a good enough look? Good. Because if you look any longer, chances are you're going to have blue stalks where your eyes used to be. And at this point, there's only one thought you could possibly be thinking: "OH DEAR GOD, I WANT ONE SO BAD IT HURTS". Well you're in luck, because there's a way you can transport one to your very own garden.
What's that in the picture? Well, it's a bulb. A bellthorn bulb. All that purple badassery we've discussed is si tting right before you, wrapped up tightly in a coil of petals. And the second you plant that baby, it'll spring up and start shooting stamens all over the place again. The method to get one is simple: dig the grass out from beneath it. It's a sneaky move for sure, and your efforts grant you a bulb of your own. When you replant that bulb, you'll get a random sized bellthorn. And with all that out of the way, there's just one question remaining: How do I stop it from killing me?
By simply HOLDING the BULB! See, these flowers don't have eyes. But they do have a sense of smell, and they will attack anything that doesn't smell like themselves. Carry that bulb in your hand and you'll smell just like them! They'll accept you as part of their badass gang and happily defend your garden from monsters free of charge. And really, when the chicks see those purple beauties in your front garden, they'll be crawling all over you. No more lonely nights in Minecraft town.
Oh, and they also glow in the dark.

Im amused. I had the idea of a carnivorous plant myself, but this is even better >:biggrin.gif:
Also.... do I want to know what those yellow guys in the background are? xD

It's Blockhead! Or possibly a lego person.

If you're callin' about the Mobtalker scripts, I no longer have access to them.
However, it's been getting tempting lately to put together a modpack that includes CustomNPCs, so I could definitely work in something along the same themes in the modpack's quests. Feel free to give suggestions of mods that promote an experience which minimizes mining grind in favor of exploration. I'll likely have to include Grimorie of Gaia to provide good models (No I'm not gonna directly change the default mob models)
That is amazing! Once again KodaichiZero you have created something not a lot of people would think of!
What if the arc's hit another flower? Would it get damaged?

Heh, cool! Glad I could make your fantasy partially come true as well. And those yellow guys are a test mob I made to get back into modding. They rocket into the sky and explode when I hit them :tongue.gif:

Is there a problem with planting bulbs? I can plant the "seed" but there is no flower then...
That's a glitch I haven't been able to solve yet. There might be too many creatures in your world if that's happening.

You make great mods! It's nice to see you back, although I think swearing on forums is somewhat vulgar, I can't tussle with the rules. :/
Still, these are pretty cool!
I tried not to swear too much :/ They usually allow those kind of words in PG movies. I'll change it if anyone else complains.
do you still work on the aether mod or did that project broke up?
Well, I'm not in it anymore, but the project is still being worked on, albeit very slowly. This mod was originally going to be included in the Nether/Aether update, and I pitched the idea myself. But seeing as how I'm not working on it anymore, I just made it as a normal mod.
That's a pretty badass flower.
Just one question, is this considered a mob? As in, can I spawn one with something like Single Player Commands.
Or as it technically a block just like other flowers?
Anyway, sounds amazing and I'm going to try this out <-- Man, that flower sucks, we totally need a Bellthorn icon now :tongue.gif:
It's a mob. You can spawn one (or many :3) with SPC, by typing 'spawn bellthorn'.
My test world is completely overrun with these wondrous flower monsters now :biggrin.gif:

Come on guys, we're getting off-topic, this is a thread about kicking men in the testicles.

You'll be surprised by how few people actually put a bathroom in their house. Where else would you ****? Where else?
Does this mean you will be taking control over updating your other mobs in the future or is 303 going to be in control of the Kodaichi Mod Revival indefinitely?
BTW - really really cool idea for a flora mob instead of the regular fauna.
