Hi,This mod adds an item (Athame) and an Enchant for that item (Enderhunter) to the game. The Athame adds extra damage to Endermen and the Ender dragon, the enchant adds a looting and damage multiplier depending on the level, at level 3 it also prevents Endermen from teleporting when hit
recipe
Installation
This is a forge mod so just place the jar in the mod folder
changelog
1.0.2.1
fixed null reference
upped durability, now somewhere between stone and iron
1.0.1.1
tested vs 1.6.4 and added check for people who like to empty hand vs endermen
Interesting Concept. Now to see how it does in active gameplay.
feedback appreciated, personally the gold durability makes it break kind of quick for me but then again by the time you get the lvl 3 enchant you don't need many hits
hehe yeah the icon is pretty bad I really need to do something about it,
the Athame is actually repairable with gold on an anvil,
as far as other features I am open to suggestions but do have a couple of ideas
P
Haha no, I meant that Athame's icon looks like a broken sword (which looks fine by the way, adds a real sense of mystery to the blade ;)).
I was merely suggesting that perhaps in a later update that there would be a special way to restore the Athame to it's former glory? Hopefully a bit more creative/interesting than throwing a bit of gold onto the advil !

I really like that idea, I did have some ideas about enhanced abilities and this may fit that perfectly, my crappy programmer art may come good after all
Hooray! I've been looking for a mod that makes it so ender pearls aren't so hard to get, this looks perfect.
Is it possible to add a config to add more mobs that the item works against? At least the extra damage + looting part, not sure about the ease of negating teleportation. Like if, say, I have the farlanders mod or the enderstuff mod or if grimiore of gia ever updates and I need to fend off those enderdragon girls, just being able to fight the whole ender familly with this weapon. (Getting it to work against infernalmobs with the ender ability would be unreasonably difficult so not gonna ask about that.)
updated, tested vs 1.6.4 (still works vs 1.6.2 as i use srgnames) also empty hand check for all you budding kung fu monks who like to punch enderman
Hooray! Just FYI, I just completed a modded survival last week using Athame primarily to slay the ender dragon (I got pics, I'll try to upload em later tonight :)), it felt thematically perfect! (also being able to get 4+ ender pearls per Enderman kill didn't hurt either! ;))
I don't understand the empty hand check part of the update, care to elaborate (it's been a long day and I might be missing something simple, forgive me!)
Also any more thought on further developing Athame's abilities ingame?
really glad you are enjoying it, the empty hand is a bit of a joke, I got a crash report and it turned out that it was due to me not checking if an item is equipped before testing it was an athame when an Enderman is hit, why anyone would be attempting to punch an Enderman to death I have no idea!
my idea for the mod is an advanced version that also implements a heal on hit too, I may have to rethink the item creation for that, I was thinking along the lines of finding the current Athame in dungeon loot and having that be pert of the creation of a new super Athame.
Not sure of timelines though and I need to look into dungeon loot, if it is generated at world gen it may be a pain existing worlds

This seems like it would be a great mod for some kind of ender mudpack, like a really neat little edition too it, and also this has some real potential for the actual game. I think you should think about making an Athame Bow or something, because swords and your athame aren't very effective on the ender dragon, (because you will barely be able to hit him.) Just as well because you cant shoot endermen with actual bows, so maybe let the athame bow kill them or something. Anyway, its your mod do whatever you want. Keep up the good work.

I like the idea of finding Athame in dungeons (though it might be a problem in existing worlds; one may have to explore far out into unknown chunks in hopes on finding a dungeon chest), it adds bit more lore of the blade's broken, mysterious nature. Also would the reforged Athame have an innate Ender Hunter enchantment as well? I feel this way players can choose (or forced if material is lacking) to try to enchant the broken Athame with Ender Hunter I, II, III or restore the blade and get an innate Ender Hunter enchant, a healing effect and whatever else you decide to add! Let me know your thoughts!

I disagree, I feel the Athame should remain a sword and here is why: you are right about the swords being ineffective against the Ender Dragon (hell, a diamond sword is inferior to a fully charged arrow in almost every situation) but that exactly why going through the effort to craft the Athame and bring it to the End for the final fight would be so effective. The regular Athame enchanted with Ender Hunter III did more damage than a bow to the Ender Dragon in my experience also it felt more satisfying to take it down by climbing up one of the towers waiting for it to dive and bringing it down with a slash to the throat (a la Skyrim ;)). Isn't that more fitting for a final boss fight than firing stacks of arrows at him like a ghetto first-person shooter? Plus a Athame version of a bow that could kill endermen from a distance as well as heal would be so broken that you might as well through balancing out the window and give the player diamonds for every shot.

tl;dr Athame bow is too OP. In my humble opinion.
I see your point. However, if you wanted to take down the ender dragon with a satisfying clink of your sword then yes, use the sword, however, just because their would be a bow would not mean you would have to make it, as well as the bow could also teleport you like the enderman and actually shoot ender pearls or something. It doesn't have to be a weapon. However I think it would be beneficial to have it used as one because not everyone wants to climb up a tower and wait a while just to smack the ender dragon once and wait for it to come around again, or end its terrifying existence. Some people, (me as an example) just want to kill it and be done. In my humble opinion.

Ah well, I suppose you could make a bow that teleports you around or shoots pearls but that idea has been done to death already (don't believe me? check the forum for any mod that adds new types of arrows ) and a melee weapon that does extra damage to enders is a relatively fresh idea (only seen once before and that mod is now unfortunately dead). So that's why I feel that Pharabus should focus on that aspect of the mod rather than adding in features we've seen on every other bows+ mod on the forums, but as you said before: it's his/her mod and he/she can do what they like!
And if you'd rather just kill the Ender Dragon and be done with it, you could just use the vanilla bow, there really isn't a need for an ender-killing bow when the dragon already dies in less than a minute.

I mean the blade looks like it's had better days, maybe a way to repair it is on the way?
