DEFINITION : GRAND-MÈRE is the french word for GRANDMOTHER.
My mother, who is also a grandmother, inspired me this NPC mod. GrandMere likes nature, especially flowers, and she makes delicious cookies and cakes for her family... Unfortunately, GrandMere is always tired (low in health) and can't walk much. It is with humor and respect that I dedicate this Minecraft GrandMere NPC mod to my mother.

BACK STORY AND INFORMATION ABOUT GRANDMERE
Your grandmothers are lost in nature, walking around Minecraft not knowing how they get there. Walking around slowly, you offer them flowers to be nice and they give you cookies and cakes : 3 roses for a cake, 2 roses for 4 cookies, 1 rose for 2 cookies, 1 dandelion for 1 or 2 cookies. Avoid hurting them or they will fight back for awhile, teaching you to not hit a grandmother. Take care of them. These "mother hens" die easily, and when it happens they drop up to 3 eggs on the floor.
Note : Can't be tamed, and are supposed to despawn after awhile.

UPDATE
14 August 2011 : GRANDMERE v0.2 - More chance for a grandmother to spawn alone. A grandmother now drops also slippers and hats (leather boots and helmets) but only if you gave her enough wool and/or strings.
22 September 2011 : GRANDMERE v0.3 - Updated for Minecraft 1.8, and spawn in plains, desert, forest and swamp biomes only.
this is awesome!
only, can you make her spawn only 1, or at least, a lower spawn rate?
Yes, she can spawn a little less in the updated version. I'm working on it, tweaking the parameters since that there seems to be an interest in this mod after all.
No, they can't be tamed in this mod. The idea is that they spawn in the Minecraft world by accident and are looking for a way back home which they finaly find by despawning, and so on. While there, they are happy to see you and give you cakes and cookies if you are nice to them (by giving flowers).
If your goal is to bring a grandmother gradually to your place (if accessible and near enough) before she despawn... make her angry toward you for awhile. She will not teleports to you, so make sure she is following you well.
You should make them have a small house, with only a kitchen in it, and they make cakes and cookis there:D
It's a good suggestion. maybe for another mod more complex. Right now, the idea is that grandmother is lost and she finds her way back by despawning, and meanwhile she takes care of you in her way if you are nice to her.
This is actually quite adorable. The grandmother I lived with sucked, though I thank her for giving birth to my mother. She was the unpleasant kind of grandmother, but I guess it was mainly because of her dementia. Anyways, great mod. I think cakes should require more flowers or something. Maybe doing errands for her like getting buckets of water and stuff. Always take care of your grandmothers. :laugh.gif:
How many roses do you think should be enough to get a cake from this NPC?
I dunno...Maybe 9? Since it's easier to give her flowers than to chase around cows. ;p
But it doesn't have to be that many. I wish giving her a redstone dust every 3 nights on a full moon extend her lifespan, though.
Making a house for her and placing down a cake should make her stay there and live a bit longer. I'd also like a sweater. :tongue.gif:
I haven't seen a single granny. Is there something wrong with the spawn rate? Or do they not spawn on all biomes? Not to sound harsh but, maybe you could make a wolf that would eat up granny and wear her clothes. I don't really see the point in it but, a little red riding hood story isn't so bad. :tongue.gif:

Yes, this NPC is very rare, but sometimes can spawn as a group of up to 4 of them at the same place for no particular reason. It's basicaly a question of luck (it's random), and the biomes are : plains, desert, forest and swampland.
If you are in a snowy world or in a world full of montains, this NPC will not spawn at all. If your world is 1.7 generated then... I suppose you can't trust what you see in order to know in which biome you are exactly. Keep searching and good luck!
As for the wolfs attacking idea, you can try with a tamed wolf if you want to see that happen. Otherwise, a modder (who just need to download my source code to compile the modification), or myself, can edit the wolf class in Minecraft to specify granny as another natural target to attack... but you'll have to replace inside Minecraft.jar the wolf class compiled there with the modded one.

Ok, thanks. I'm currently playing an adventure map. But the other world I was playing was one inside a mountainous area with lots of trees. I hope I see one, though.
As for the wolf thing, you can make a brown one or something and it would sneak up on granny and when it gets close enough, the wolf would disappear(or die) then granny would puff into a wolf in granny clothing(or die, then spawn the granny-wolf).
It's just to add spice to the thing. I just forgot that we already had wolves cause I haven't seen one lately either.
Anyway, thanks again. I like seeing interesting mob mods. I became a fan of freakstritch's more creeps and weirdos since alpha(not sure if it was alpha, but the time when it only had 4 mobs).
I like :smile.gif: u should add grandfathers aswell it would be very nice if the grandfather would make a log cabin to live in with the grandmother and also if they had nametags on there heads good work!
That's a very nice addition to the game, she's like a flower-cake exchange machine :laugh.gif:
You should also add grandfathers as Goldencreepez154 said
