To skip all this nonsense and get directly to the mod, download it here.
Description: This is FeatherConomy, my first effort at making a mod, and the result is this extremely lightweight (17 KB!) mod that adds a couple features for those who want an economy but don't want all the complicated features of the big name mods. Only compatible with Minecraft 1.6.2. It might be compatible with earlier versions, I haven't tested it, though the mod itself is very simple so I'm sure it'll be fine.
Features: Players break blocks to get points, which they can then use to buy a preset list of items (shown below), or they can use the points to send to another player for an exchange (this drives the economy portion). There's extra little features, such as every 4098th block broken gives that player a diamond, which encourages exploration and excavation. Players also achieve ranks depending on how many blocks they've broken, and their rank is displayed whenever they chat (this can be disabled if another tagging mod is installed).
Pros & Cons:
Pros:
An extremely simple and lightweight economy
Commands are simple and kept to a minimum
Compatible with a wide variety of other mods
Cons:
Configuration is an issue I have yet to tackle
I'm completely new to programming so there may be unknown bugs, though I've tested it to great extent
If you're looking for lots of features, you're at the wrong mod
Operators are hardwired into the code, though it only effects tags, so if you're op the op commands will still work but as of now there's no way for your tag to say you're an operator, small problem but a problem nonetheless.
Issue concerning placed blocks vs natural blocks, the mod doesn't know the difference so players can potentially place blocks and break them and replace and break and so on to acquire points, though I've tried my best to balance out prices so early game gear is relatively cheap and late game gear is relatively expensive to try and combat this.
Instillation Instructions:
1. Get CraftBukkit! I'm assuming you already have it, if not, get it here. Download version 1.6.2-R1.0 (Recommended build). I'm not 100% sure if this mod works with earlier versions, though it most likely can.
2. Download my mod! It's available here. Blocky was a placeholder name, probably gonna change it in the future
3. Put the mod inside your plugins folder in the bukkit server folder!
4. Start your server and enjoy!
Commands:
Normal Commands:
/help blocky: The placeholder name for the plugin is blocky, so that's what's used for help. This'll change in the future.
/purchase <item name> <amount>: (Amount not necessary). This lets you buy an item from a preset list of items (shown below). This command is word sensitive! So an iron chestplate would be worded like /purchase iron chestplate. And shovels are called spades, example /purchase diamond spade.
/itemList: Displays a list of all purchasable items.
/itemSearch <keyword/s>: Displays items with only the parameters you set.
/seeStats: Displays rank, total blocks broken, amount of points, and the amount of blocks needed to break further to get a rank up
/sendPoints <amount> <player>: Sends a player the given amount of points
Operator Command:
/givePoints <player> <amount>: Gives a player the given amount of points. Unlike sendPoints this command doesn't deduct from the sender's account.
/setPoints <player> <amount> <reason>: Sets a player's points to the given amount. Good for rewards and punishments.
/setBlocks <player> <amount> <reason>: Sets a player's total broken block amount to the given amount. This is good for rank upgrading or rank stripping for reward or punishment.
/seePlayerStats <player>: Views all statistical information on a player. Good for regulating potential cheaters.
/toggleRank: Toggles rank visibility. If turned off all rank tags will be disabled and ranks will be seen in stat searches.
9/11/2013: Nothing as of yet, the plugin just came out!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
NOTE: I have not used or seen many other economy plugins, only some the big ones (iConomy, BOSEconomy, MineConomy for example), so if this plugin resembles any other economy mod in any way it was completely unintentional.
