Druidry is a simple nature based mod that adds more early game variety, with a touch of magic. There are new things to explore and see, with extra world gen and some new monsters. You can decorate with the new blocks and items, there's more flowers and trees then before. There are new ways to take care of your animals, they'll even heal a little after being fed. You can get by with a lot less mining and killing then before.
We've tried to make the mod immersive and pleasant. You can do many early game tasks more easily but we've also worked to strike a balance so nothing will be just handed to you. That said, a starting guide to Druidry is now just handed to you! If you're already curious, skip the rest of this post and check it out now! With Not Enough Items installed and the in-game book, you should be able to get pretty far on your own without spoiling anything exciting.
Getting Started
Druidry was designed to be easy to get into, you'll find many new options for how to spend your first few days. Instead of the usual punching down trees and slaughtering pigs for bacon routine, you can rummage through trees for goodies. You'll find saplings, sticks, and even get apples to eat (if you're searching oak leaves).
Punching down trees is not only silly but it's now entirely avoidable. You can make your first axe using sticks and flint now. No crafting table required! It's a great way to defend yourself against monsters too.
For some more day-one food ideas, try out roasting seeds or cooking eggs. You can use wooden bowls to milk cows with, and even make edible cheeses from the milk. Living off the land while taking care of some animals is now much more fun and rewarding.
You don't have to slaughter sheep or look for iron either to make a bed. You can collect enough spider string to make a bed early on from offering a spider something to snack on. They don't just eat adventurers anymore! They're happy with a few new things, I recommend giving them an egg.
Once you've settled down and are happy with your new home, try finding one of the new trees and rummage for tea leaves. Making tea is easy and can be fun to add extra little ingredients to for flavor.
When you're more established, you can try defending your base with some of the new blocks and items we've created. Scarecrows can distract monsters while you work outside, there's even grass that hurts enemies who walk over. Some of the new blocks give off light if you're tired of your front yard being a sea of torches.
If you get the itch for adventure you can even just take a walk, maybe you'll discover one of the secret surprises we've made for you.
You can look at the comprehensive feature list for the 1.7.10 version on the Druidry subreddit.
Easy to get started - If you read through the in-game intro guide and have Not Enough Items installed, you'll be pretty much ready to go.
Rummaging - You can hit leaves with your bare hand and they'll convert to a rummaged leaf that grows back into a nice healthy leaf block after a while. Rummaged leaves will drop stuff like sticks (stack of sticks is half decent furnace fuel, or build fences and ladders without annihilating half your nearby forests) and saplings. Oaks even drop apples!
More ways to obtain things - Less need to murder your way to the top! You can obtain black dye from flowers. Feeding chickens now causes them to drop feathers for you to use. Similarly, spiders will be happy to trade string for a snack.
More world gen variety - New flowers, trees, monsters, unicorns, and other surprises await for you to discover!
New foods - We have fun new cakes and cookies, now even spider legs (yucky!)
New ways to decorate - Scarecrows, torch free light sources, not just flowers! But I mean, definitely flowers too.
Indoor farming - Did you ever want to grow food in your kitchen? Well, I did, and now we have a garden pot just for that.
Home defenses - Not a lot to choose from yet, but there is that grass that hurts monsters. It gives off light too.
Silly Achievements - Maybe.. don't earn these.
New dimensions - Definitely still a WIP, but check them out tell us what you think.
Exclamation marks! - Mod is still being developed and has many surprises to come, so much to get excited about!
We also have a 1.7.10 build if you want to use that.

I haven't updated this space as often as I planned to originally! I think I thought I'd put all the major news here or something originally. Anyway, I've got nothing to say really, thanks for looking into Druidry, bye now!
Yes and no. I honestly don't think it's very immersive to have to slaughter off a dozen chickens for a handful of feathers. It's always bothered me that sticks don't come from leaves, you ever prune a tree in real life you'll get more sticks then you can... well, wave a stick at. But sure, while we want to add bosses and stuff to the mod, it's never going to require a mob grinder or a quarry to make work. Lot's of other mods have done a great job of that already >.<
Edit: Actually it already has one, albeit sort of silly boss monster that shows up once in a while. There's sort of a little of everything in there, this was my first project I dabbled a little in everything I could think of. Was more fun to make that way.
This looks like a fun and interesting Magic/Early game survival mod. I'll definitely be trying it out and keeping an eye out on its progress. Bloody love Magic mods and I hope to see you in later versions of Minecraft as well. I'm glad you started on 1.7.10 though.

and yay, thank you both so much for trying the mod out! Please let us know what you think. <3
LOL, took the words right out of my mouth. I get my mod is a little carebear-ish but I feel like there's tons of really good mods that already do the edgy/violent side of magic very very well. I think we actually may of bumped how much meat larger animals drop a tiny bit in druidry! I know we talked about it. It was mostly for immersion reasons, getting a single small meal from an entire cow felt silly. I'm keeping the protector of nature theme for my mod though, I sort of feel like that's what makes it unique.
EDIT: Also btw, everybody, I updated the mod today. Added a few items, fixed a few bugs, updated some models. Assuming I uploaded the correct version this time it's up and available. Anyone who's into change logs I've tried to list what I remember here!
Hi Roamona, great mod love this idea. Couple of things id love to see.
1. Rummaged leaves to work with trees from other mods (BOP, Highlands, Thaumcraft etc).
2. Config options to disable some features (e.g. oregen as other mod may already spawn silver amd disable dimensions if not wanted).
Keep up the great work keeping my eye on this!
Hola! Skye is the art / QA person I'm the person who does most of the stuff you mentioned. I took all these requests pretty seriously, they were on my to do list and good ideas. I have an experimental 1.9.4-1.10.2 build posted that makes rummaged leaves attempt to play nice with modded leaves, but it hasn't been tested. You can now set silver ore spawn chance to zero in the ini file as well. I'll probably update 1.7.10 with these features later this week while I wait to see if 1.9.4 proves more popular then 1.7.10 or not. Thanks for your comment!
hello there. your mod is causing my custom mopack to not launch, here is the crash log. I think it is yours since when i disable it, it launches normally
hello there. your mod is causing my custom mopack to not launch, here is the crash log. I think it is yours since when i disable it, it launches normally
That's interesting, I don't' see anything in there right off the bat that looks like druidry. I'll poke around and see what I can come up with but it looks like something EvilCraft is doing. I can try to track down why Druidry isn't playing nice with it.
EDIT: I'm not sure I'm in the wrong here, EvilCraft is assuming anything that works as a plank in recipes is an actual plank without checking if it's even a block. That doesn't feel like something it *should* be doing to me. I'd love to get my mod up and running for you and I appreciate you showing me this... give me a bit to see how I want to address this I'll update later tonight.
Honestly I wasn't married to branches acting as planks on a 1:1 like this anyway. I'm still waiting for Skye to supply artwork for the like roundhouse inspired building blocks that branches were intended to turn into. In the mean time they can just make oak planks and quit crashing your modpack >.< I'm good with that. I hope this wasn't a wide spread problem, got a lot of fresh downloads last night, this would be a terrible first impression.
Hello! I downloaded your mod for 1.10 version and made an account to tell you. I like the look of it very much!
Oh my gosh I've been so worried this will happen! Skye has been dealing with real life problems and hasn't updated the original post to make this very clear yet. Those are features in the 1.7.10 version. Very few of those features are working in the 1.10 build right now, I'm working on that right now. The 1.10 version is very new I made it on a whim to see how hard it would be and if there was much interest. I apologize about the confusion, I'll try to get 1.9.4-1.10.2 updated with those features soon. I personally maintain an up to date list of what's in that version here https://www.reddit.com/r/DruidryMC/comments/4uagbu/194_druidry_progress/
EDIT: lol thank goodness you didn't go after a spider with an egg, it'd probably of just hurt the spider making it angry. The 1.7.10 version cancels egg throwing near spiders so you don't hit them.
Ha I'm not scared of the spiders They are easy to run away from and that flint hatchet will make a very good starting weapon (maybe too good)
I figured it was just a test build (it did say that on the post after all), just wanted you to know that you will have at least one dedicated 1.10 user if you go ahead with it
It looks like there might be far more 1.10 people on board with Druidry then I ever imagined. It's gotten far more downloads then the 1.7.10 version ever did. I'll probably be working on it far more often now!
I've been debating between bumping the durability on the axe down or decreasing the damage slightly, I agree it might be ever so slightly too good of a day 1 self defense item. It's really helpful if you're like me and really not much into the combat and largely avoid it like the plague >.<
I just uploaded new versions of 1.7.10 and the 1.10 version today. It adds branches to 1.7.10 so that you can make planks there too. I've revised how rummage leaves works in 1.10, they now generate a list of drops instead of merely creating a sapling once in a while. Hopefully your BoP peaches work now but I still have a list of known issues that I should have fixed by next week. Skye sounds pretty confident that both versions of the mod work well with other mods now. I loaded up the github for BoP and I don't think peaches will work. I'll fix that next week it's my top priority now.
Oh, also chickens drop feathers and stuff like that in the 1.10 version now Enjoy, everyone!
EDIT: Okay, I've extensively double checked and Skye was right the first time, peaches are dropping from Biomes o Plenty just fine in the current 1.9.4-1.10.2 version! Life has been confusing lately ._. (sorry for doubting you, Skye)
Well, y'know... there's less competition for 1.10 mods right now we're mod-starved over here, if it works we'll take it!
I've actually been a little worried about that, I like to pretend people enjoy the mod and aren't just grabbing everything in sight But oh well, I'm seeing so many daily downloads I wont complain.
I just updated everything again, a few days sooner then usual but hopefully the self announcing bump isn't too tacky, I didn't think I'd get much more done between now and Friday when I usually post updates. 1.7.10 and 1.9~1.10 versions both got a pretty decent amount of work and 1.7.10 had tons of little bugs politely evicted from the mod.
I'm off to real life issues and answering emails, enjoy everyone!
Edit: So I forgot to mention anything I actually did. The 1.9~1.10 version let you milk cows with wooden bowls again. You can bake cakes and stuff without iron buckets because that's sort of silly. Branches are a furnace fuel source in both versions. The Flint Axe got nerfed a little in response to a concern it might of been a little too good. That said it's still pretty durable because it's absurdly easy to repair with wood. Considering making the maximum repair amount slowly go down to show the flint is chipping away, but didn't want to over complicate things. Special colored mod trees will remain there original colors now and instead show particles in both versions while they heal up again. Lot's of little things like that. The subbredit should have most of the details.
