This is my first mod, the Adventure Pack. With the Adventure Update only a few weeks away, I decided to make a mod that would go with that theme, and my ideas, along with some suggestions from a few friends of mine, became this mod. I hope you enjoy it.
About The Mod & Pictures
I know you guys love seeing pictures of mods, so here are some things about the different parts of the mod.
Huge thanks to my friend decman1717 for doing the videos. :3
Most of this mod was originally based off of the prospect of some sort of flying vehicle. Since I wanted to stay true to the original theme of minecraft, i decided to make a glider. It is crafted using a total of 18 feathers, 8 planks, and 6 sticks.
Crafting:
I also thought about other types of exploration, though. Much of this game is based on spelunking. Therefore, I made the world generate water-filled caves around level 20 and below, as well as populating the bottom layers with a new ore I added called tungsten. Tungsten is by far the strongest tool in the game, and also the fastest. I also added obsidian tools because now obsidian ore generates in the nether. It has a bright purple texture. Obsidian tools are the second best, and although obsidian ore is not rare in the nether, you must first get diamonds to go to the nether, so I think it balances out pretty well.
After a bit of thinking about the spelunking theme, I remembered one problem I always run into: You can never have enough wood. To attempt to solve this, I added purely cobblestone pickaxes and a non-wood lightsource.
As well as this, I added metal boats as a stronger type of boat which is also immune to fire (I will not be held responsible if you take assumptions about your own combustability).
I also added some weapons to better protect yourself on your journeys.
Throwing knives:
Using only 2 crafting boxes, so you can craft them on the go.
Throwing knives can be, well, thrown. Wooden knives do 2 damage, stone 3, iron 4, diamond 5.
However, what if you're being chased by a group of enemies? Jumbles are even worse because you can't focus on all of them at once. Or can you? You can now! Just make some bombs!
Bombs have a bit less power than TNT, so by using the same amount of gunpowder you get 2 of them. They bounce for a bit, then explode. They can also be used to strip mine if you're lazy.
However, what if you want to be more precise? Well, put a bomb and a slimeball in a crafting bench to get a Sticky Bomb! They fly completely straight, and after hitting something they slide for a fraction of a second then explode.
Lastly, what if you want to get to, say, the top of a cliff? Well, get a hookshot! Hook shots are fired and allow you to drag yourself through the air. Be careful though, since you're on the tether to the hook, you can't move as well, so you won't will want to make sure you land close to the hook, and on the same level, as you can't jump very well (If I land lower I just blow up and bumps infront of my character with a bomb). Upon reaching the hook it will go back into your inventory.
There is also a new ore called SnowStone. It generates in the nether. Why? Well, you know how the sun has cold spots? So does the nether. In the future, coldstone will be given uses, but it can currently only be crafted into ingots.
To further improve the theme of adventure, but also the dangers of it, a few other things have been added. First is the giant squid. I caution you heavily, if you find a pinkish squid with 14 tentacles, go the other way. You will die unless you are extremely well equipped. I advise the use of throwing knives.
...or a bow, you know, that's cool too.
However, to make the giant squids worth killing or even venturing towards, they drop 1-3 tentacles on death. If cooked, these tentacles heal 8 hearts each. Also, they sometimes dropped ink sacs. Just saying.
Giant Squid spawners will randomly be placed around the map during generation. You can do whatever you want with these. It's just to make exploration tougher. So, if you ever toggle fog and see flames, you might want to dig. Just see what it is.*
*If it's actually a dungeon, it's not my fault you chose to go towards it.
Also added are a new type of dungeon, more dangerous, that spawn above ground, which I call temples. They are extremely dangerous. Just saying. Be extremely careful around these. However, if you do manage to harvest one, it is worth it, as the chests contain many valuables. Also, two new mobs, Knights and Spirits, guard these. You will never find a knight or spirit in any other place. Only in temples. Spirits are extremely fast and not as powerful as knights, whereas knights are very slow but will kill you very quickly.
Remember, temples are very rare, so don't expect to walk over a hill and see one embedded into the side of a cliff. I've only gotten that once. Yeah, that was cool.
(Sorry, I don't have pictures of temples. Since they're so rare, it's hard to get them, and the one I mentioned...in the side of the cliff...well it had a creeper spawner...)
Also, you can now craft string into cobwebs. Just figured it'd be useful.

Other stuff
I would again like to thank my friend decman1717, without whose constant support and ideas, this mod would've never ended up so big. I would also like to thank my friend alecwet909 (not sure what his username is on these forums) for suggesting throwing knives, and my other friend PurpleStuff for unwittingly suggesting bombs and the hook shot.
Planned upcoming features
Nether dungeons
More common / bigger / more complex dungeons for the surface
More types of transportation
More tools/weapons
That's all for now. Thanks for reading, and if you have any thoughts/comments/ideas/suggestions, I would love to hear them. :smile.gif:
The cold spots on the sun are still really hot. And given by the name of "Snowstone", one may think it is as, for example, cold as snow on stone or something. and seeing as the nether is supposed to be like an underworld, it does not make too much sense to me. 0.0
'ey ral! I see you added my Throwing Knife idea. :3
Ever plan on releasing HD textures for it?
I think it would be cool to add some sort of cave detector that changes color as you get close to mobs or unlit area. Could be useful for finding caves without turning sound up to max or using F3 to cheat. As you know I have 0 experience with coding, so I am not sure how hard it would be to do.
The Obsidian Tools remind me a bit of my mod in the way the block is crafted into two "slates" before it's used. Doesn't appear to be using my code or sprites, though, so it's all good. Seems like an interesting mod, and could be fun.
Looks like a really good mod. I'll be sure to try it out.

I'm going to hack bedrock in then surround myself, after hacking infinite armor, and a pumpkin, plus layers of obsidian over the bedrock i am sealed in, so I won't die. *stomach growls* ...NOOOOO
Thanks for the Comments everyone!
@AR I dont think it would be TOO hard, ill ask ral about it tomorrow.
@bil Thanks! :biggrin.gif:
@Proloe Im sorry the concept is very similar, Ill talk to ral about maybe having to smelt the shards/slates :biggrin.gif:

I'm not saying it's an issue, I was just pointing out the similarity. Smelting might be better, though, especially considering you're using Obsidian Ore. My mod treats the Obsidian block as a storage block, rather than an ore, and you can re-craft the block, but you only get two slates out of it.
Hey, I've been looking at the mod a bit more, and your Golden Squids derp quite a bit.
Derp as in they become immobile, and fly in one direction infinitely until they hit a block (if you push them). Not only this, but you can ride them.

Well it looks like ral gave the wrong Download or forgot to remove that! Ill have him fix that in the morning, as that's not supposed to happen :tongue.gif:
Parachute. Alright. Good idea. Thanks for all the replies everyone :3
Sorry about uploading the wrong pack. I updated it and squids actually work now.
And Alec, I should be able to do that, yes.
When I've done the cave checker and the parachute, I'll update the thread. :biggrin.gif:

Aren't you addicted?
And Krasevel, indeed it doesn't, but nothing much in the game does if you think about it. Does it have to?
Ever plan on releasing HD textures for it?

Hehe, Maybe a Nether squid that swims in lava and you can ride and control with a nether whip? But rocket squids sound cool too :tongue.gif:
