On 1.0.0 I decided to make a new world on hardcore, on a survival island, I tried a couple of seeds and found one that seems good to me. There was one tree, some grass, both islands seem flat, and I have a little farm going, maybe this could be a long-term world, who knows? One thing I do know is there is a mineshaft exposed in the flat and jut filled late beta ocean, and I shall be exploring that in the future. I do plan to update the world to 1.6.4 or 1.7.10 or maybe later, once again who knows what i'll do if retromc doesnt get too far in the way. Yeah steakland is cancelled for reasons I don't want to go into right now, but hey, this could be cool.
Survival island is one of my favorite vanilla challenges; my first long(ish)-term survival world was almost entirely based on a small, remote island similar to the ones you described. It's always exciting to see how you can develop and build upon it to transform an unremarkable island into something spectacular in the middle of nowhere, often with major resource limitations too.
yeah it is fun, here is the seed:-1900826452485215005
Here are some rules I plan to use in this world:
1. I cannot go more than 150 blocks by water past the island (putting this underground is just insane)
2. I cannot update until I am either very bored, or I have done everything in said version
Nether restrictions
3a. I cannot make multiple portals for traveling off the island, though having many that loop to the overworld one is allowed
3b. No nether roof, this is kind of a lame practice that I don't enjoy and wont even be useful as you will see next
4. No giant automatic farms for any resource, this includes iron farms, pigman farms, blaze farms, if it comes to the version (probably) no automatic fishing, auto pumpkin and melon and wheat, and any other food item. This is to avoid the reliance and game defeating efficiency of these farms
5. No map viewing services, only vanilla exploration tools, it is the adventure update.
6. No hacks and cheats
7. Looking up help tactics unless I get soft locked or some other situation where it is 100% necessary.
