I was venturing through the Nether, when I stumbled into a stream of lava while on 4 hearts. Right before I exited out of the game, I was on fire with half a heart, and I can't just suck it up because my inventory is full of things that took me a week or two to get. Is there a way to save myself or my items without directly joining my save world?
I've already tried using an NBT editor called "Universal Minecraft Tool" to edit my save files to make me survive in some way, but somehow that also doesn't work because it detects saved games from the Minecraft launcher itself, and I'm using Modrinth to launch my Minecraft game instead of the launcher. Is there a way to fix that, too? That would be great.
You can try using NBTExplorer, which can browse to any file, although it was last updated in 2017 and I've never tried using it on a current version of the game (much less ran them):
You'd want to edit the "Health" tag of the player (under the "Player" tag), setting it to 20 and/or "Fire" to -20 (if you escaped the lava, otherwise it will immediately be reset), though if you escaped the lava ("on fire" as in just burning?) and are a safe distance away from any hazards you can just look at the coordinates so you can quickly get back to the area (even vanilla now has a means to find your death point so this is much less cheaty, pressing F3 and taking a screenshot before you die is another way).
(I also thought of another method but it was apparently patched in 1.21.4; you used to be immune to all damage for a few seconds after joining a world, so it was possible to survive otherwise completely unsurvivable situations, except for falling into the void, by repeatedly reloading the world. If you are on an older version you can make a backup of the world and see if simply reloading it prevents damage, if you eat right away you'll regain a few hearts by the time the immunity wears off)
Thanks for the tip! 👍 I never thought of using NBTExplorer lol
edit: the NBTExplorer works perfectly fine, I just can't manage to connect it to edit the minecraft files I want, because it automatically starts editing the files on my Minecraft launcher (I bought it on the xbox app for 30 bucks). I don't use the Launcher. In fact, I use Modrinth to launch my games, and the game I want to edit is on there. How do i change the files it can edit? Maybe it's in the "Files" Section somewhere?

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
