TL;DR I fiddled around with some of the settings in my OneBlock Skyblock world and now my world has kinda gone to **** (= extremely long world saving times, world overview says I'm playing creative while I'm in survival, stuck in the end) to the point that it's unplayable. I'm trying to save the overworld by creating a new OneBlock Skyblock world and copying all the relevant overworld data into that new world to preserve it, but I'm not sure what data in the world save folder I should copy. I believe the 'region' folder contains all overworld chunk data, but is simply replacing this folder in the new world enough? I want to preserve the overworld chunks, chest contents and mobs if possible.
BONUS question: how do permanently remove the pre-set 1000-block world border from my world in OneBlock Skyblock?
Alright buckle up, this is gonna be a **** show:
Recently, I've been playing a lot of OneBlock Skyblock (https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/worlds/oneblock-reborn) after updating from 1.19 to 1.20 (no problems there). However, I had some personal preference issues that led me to fiddling around with the world. Since I was playing with cheats off, I had to create a LAN world every time I wanted to change something. The main problem I had was with the 1000 block radius world border, since this essentially prevents players from exploring the outer end islands for end cities and getting shulker shells and elytras. I tried editing this world border by enlarging it, which for some reason did not really work (the border reset immediately or something, I can't really remember). Instead, I changed the center of the world border to where I could explore further, basically letting the world border move with me as I explored.
I don't really know what went wrong, but at some point I tried logging out of the game and it took me so long, I force stopped minecraft with Taskmanager. Now, every time minecraft autosaves the world, it takes this long (at least 5 minutes) to the point where it's become unplayable. I initially thought this was a problem with my end dimension because I was ****ing around with the world border so much so I tried (in chronological order):
- teleporting back to the centre and hopping back into the overworld: worked for a short moment, then extreme loading times and crashes again
- Removing the end dimension altogether: extreme loading times persisted, and now there was no end portal to jump back into lol
- Putting all my stuff in an ender chest and jumping into the void: message that my respawn point was obstructed/nonexistent, respawned on the regenerating block (aka the centre of the world) which seemingly had reset and extreme loading times/crashes.
Since none of this worked, I started looking into ways of simply trying to save the most important parts of my world, which are the overworld chunks, the stuff in my ender chest and the nether dimension if possible (in order of highest priority). I'm a casual player but I understand to an extent how the game saves data, I have no programming/Java experience though. So I started looking into how to save the overworld from my world, and I thought of copying the overworld files into a newly created OneBlock Skyblock world so that my creations would be preserved while all the other 'junk' in the broken world save folder would essentially be reset. So my main question is: what files in a minecraft save folder are important for preserving the overworld? Are there other ways to save my overworld progress? I don't care about the state of the regenerating block, but I DO care about the contents of all of my chests and the mobs in the overworld.
Also, I would like to know if there's a way to permanently remove the world border that has been set by the OneBlock Skyblock creator. Would be nice to know, but i can live with it if it's not possible.
Alright if you've made it this far I apologise for wasting a couple of minutes of your life but this world means a lot to me so hopefully anyone can help okay thanks bye
