i made a base in minecraft next to a village, but there are soooo much mobs coming to my base. i already died 20 times and i only have 2 villagers left! i am looking for a way to protect my base and the villagers. if you know how i can save the villagers and myself comment on this please.
The easiest way to protect the villagers is to get them into a house and then block off the door so they can't leave. Then put a fence around the village and light everything up with torch spam until you can go back and add more decorative lighting that fits in with the village better. Also make sure you sleep through the night to prevent as many mobs.
As the previous poster said, you can keep your base and village mob-free simply by surrounding it with a simple fence and lighting up the area within the fence. This sounds very simple but of my 10 or so villages, none are easy to surround by a fence because they all happen to be located in hilly terrain with houses on different levels. And you may need hundreds of torches, depending in the size. It is important to light up roofs and erect fence barriers on overhanging cliffs so mobs can’t drop in from above and make sure that mobs can’t jump over the fence at any point. Practice makes perfect. If you put a piece of carpet on your fence at intervals you can jump over the fence at those points but the mobs can’t. I don’t bother to lock in my villagers while erecting the defenses because I sleep through the nights. Since you only have two villagers and can’t afford to lose one, I think it is a good idea to wall them into their houses until the fortifications are perfect. When you are finished with the fence it is a good idea to spend several nights roaming the village/base to identify dark spots that mobs can still spawn in and light them up. If you don’t like the look of torches on the ground everywhere you can use jack o’lanterns buried in the ground instead. You can even cover them with carpet.
the best thing to do is move your base away from the village..center your base at least 200 blocks away..and stay out of your village at night..still a good idea to make a wall and light it up...if your like me and don't like to see torches...dig out a block and put a torch in it and cover it with leave block the light will emit out still and looks a lot nicer..you can have a village at light lvl 12 see very little torches
because where you sit now...if you ever get bad omen..it will automatically transfer to that village right beside you...there is a block radius for the omen to take effect on the village... being right beside it..if you get pillagers your village will be under constant attack

If you have a nether portal, you can get magma blocks and a fence around your village
